11 months

Look who's 11 months old today!

Emmy girl you are the sweetest, most loving little girl a mama could ask for.  My favorite thing is when I tell you to love on something and you hold it close and lay your head on it.  You'll be crawling around playing and just lay your head down on things and it is just so sweet.  You've starting giving kisses again and once you start, you don't stop!  I love you more and more each day.  I can't believe you will be a year old in just one month!

You have mastered the wave and you wave on command or whenever you want.  You're so cute when we're shopping and you just start waving at whoever is looking at you.

You still aren't saying many words, but I was able to get you to say ma ma, da da, and bye bye the other day.

You are a fast crawler and you can cruise around furniture like a champ.  You don't really like to stand on your own.  If I let go of you, you plop to the ground.  There have been a few times when you let go of something (not realizing it) and stand on your own for a few seconds.  Your balance is getting better because you sit in the squatting position for long periods of time without falling down.

You started pulling your headband bows out of your hair so I've been using real bows on the small patch of hair on the back of your head.  However, you've started pulling those out too!

You have transitioned out of 9 month clothes and are wearing 9-12 month and 12 month clothes.  I have no idea what size shoe you wear.  I think about a 3, but every shoe is different.

You wear a size 3 diaper.

I will be interested to see how much you weigh  next month.  You are on all formula now and I think you've actually gained a little more weight that you had been.

We still aren't sure what color eyes you have.  We're leaning more toward hazel.

You just had one more tooth (on the top) pop through so you are up to 3, but another top tooth (neither of your front two) is about to come through.  You are such a good teether!

I am amazed at how different you are from Bryce at this age.  The biggest similarity between the two of you is your sweet and happy nature.

science museum

There was a groupon for the Science Museum on Thursday and I bought one and we already went on Friday!  Bryce has been a couple of times, once with Kelly, and once with Jason, but I have not been there in years.  Our tickets included an IMAX movie, but we didn't end up seeing one.  I get too motion sick in those things, and there wasn't one showing that we really thought Bryce would be interested in.  We did enjoy the exhibits though!

He didn't really get the concept of standing so it looked like his head on a platter.

Bryce had a hard time spinning himself.

Jason got him spinning good.

He fell as a result of the spinning, ha!

Emmy enjoyed climbing on the blocks while Bryce built with them.

Peek - a - boo

The highlight of the trip is watching the rats they have trained to play basketball.  Bryce pet the rat at the end, but my picture was blurry.  Jason saw a sign in one of the exhibits about touching the animals so he had the lady get a snake out and he and Bryce "pet" it.  Jason was upset that you couldn't hold it.

back to normal

Jason headed back to work today after being off since before Christmas.  We were sad to see him go, but we had a full day of things planned today.  We finally went to the grocery store for a real grocery trip since it's been a while.  Then we were off to Bryce's last gymnastics class (this was a make up) and then we headed across the street to a cupcake bakery.  Each week when we leave gymnastics, Bryce asks "when are we going to get a cupcake?"  Today was the day!  He got chocolate, can you tell??  I also gave him a haircut today!

I often find Emmy in Bryce's bean bag chair.  She made her way into Bryce's room today after I gave the kids a bath and this is how I found her!

My mom went to the Dillard's New Years Day sale yesterday and scored big on Christmas outfits for Emmy next year.  These outfits are just adorable.  She also got a red velvet Mrs. Claus dress, two fun outfits she can wear now, and a dress I'm hoping will fit her first birthday party theme perfectly!

I am loving this oh so comfy and cute North Face hoodie Jason's parents gave me for Christmas. I have literally been living in it since Christmas!

Happy Wednesday friends!

resolutions for 2013

I'm not really big on making resolutions for the new year because I typically don't stick to them.  I'm always with the other millions of people who resolve to lose weight in the new year.  I think all but about 3 of my adult years (2 because I was pregnant on January 1 and losing weight just wasn't an option) I resolved to losing weight.

This year I'm telling myself that I want to be healthier in 2013.  I'm not putting a number on weight loss, but just setting a goal to eat healthier and be more active again (ie. pick up the weights that have been collecting dust for a few months and do a little more cardio).  If I do these things, I know a will shed a few pounds!

However, in my attempt to be healthier, I have set one resolution for myself and that is to kick my diet coke obsession!  I honestly don't drink it on a daily basis, nor do I buy it at the store very often, but I do indulge whenever I have the chance.  I love it SO much, but I know it's just not good for me.  I've never been one to drink regular sodas because it's not worth the calories to me, so hopefully by the end of the year, I will be drinking just water and the occasional glass of milk and orange juice!

Happy New Year

the best of 2012

1.  Emmy

Emmy has been the perfect addition to our family.  Having a little girl is just so much fun.  She is just so sweet and cuddly and I enjoy our one on one time together.  Bryce is the best big brother and adjusted so well to his little sister!

2. Disney World

I was nervous about a plane trip and a big vacation with a 3 year old and a 5 five month old, but it went smoothly and great memories were made.  Bryce can't wait to go back!  I keep telling him Emmy has to be old enough to remember it next time.

3. Jason and I turned 30

We celebrated with close friends!
30 year old parties look a lot different than 21st birthdays!

I think I may have had a mini mid-life crisis over this big event, but it's still worth documenting!

4. Annual beach trip

Our summers would not be complete without a relaxing trip to the beach.  Once Emmy is older, I  may be able to use the term relaxing to describe a beach trip!

5. I stopped working to be a SAHM

With Emmy's birth and different child care needs, staying at home was the perfect solution to our child care needs and my sadness of missing my babies while I worked.  It was very hard to say goodbye to my career and my good friends, and I have to admit, I am still adjusting, but I know it was the right choice for our family.

christmas recap...........aka picture overload

We started our Christmas celebrations on Christmas Eve.  We went to my parent's house for a late lunch/early dinner and opened presents.

Apparently the bows were the best part!

This was about the extent of Emmy's unwrapping for the whole holiday.  She wasn't sure what to do!

Playing peek-a-boo with the gifts was just as fun!

After we left my parent's house, we headed to church for the Christmas Eve service and then to Jason's sister's house for some yummy snacks.  Then we came home, put on our Christmas pjs, set out cookies for Santa, read the Night Before Christmas, and then Jason and I got to work!

Checking things out on Christmas morning.

We had a little time to play before making our rounds.

Our first stop was Jason's parent's house for breakfast and presents.  The kids were excited!

Checking out his new bike from Chase.

Testing it out.

Emmy got boots for Christmas.  L.O.V.E

Our family

Testing the bike out.  He kept wanting to pedal backwards.  He's getting the hang of it though.

After Jason's parent's house, we stopped by my parent's house for stockings.  We came home long enough for Emmy to take a quick nap so Bryce practiced riding his new scooter.

Next we were off to Jason's grandparent's house and then his Grandma's house.  When we got home for the night, Bryce had a little time to destroy the living room  play before bed.  The living room still looks like this today, but at least all the presents we brought home Monday and Tuesday have been put away and organized in the playroom!

We woke up to a rainy morning so we decided to stay home in our pajamas all day and play with our new toys since we weren't home much yesterday!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
