just another week in the life of us

Life these days consists of school/work, extracurricular activities and sleep!

Emmy had a little issue with her headphones at school so Jason reengineered them and they work great now.  I love that her teacher sends me pics!

We had a rare night off of everything so we got a chance to enjoy our new fire pit!

Bryce's All Star team had a game on Tuesday night and they pulled off a win advancing them to the semi finals.

Bryce's biggest fan!

We celebrated a win with our favorite ice cream.  The lighting makes Emmy look like a vampire, ha!

I don't work on Fridays so I get my casual day on Thursdays.  Emmy wanted to dress like me this week!

Chase spent the night with us last night and Bryce's friend Thomas has been coming to church with us since his church isn't meeting in person yet.  We had a car full of boys!

We went to our local produce stand for pumpkins today.  The kids had fun jumping and sliding on the hay bales.

Pumpkins and ice cream on a warm fall day is just what the doctor ordered today!

We just need some mums and we'll be ready!  We wrapped up the evening with hot dogs and smores around the fire pit with Nana.  Now we're ready for another week of school, baseball and gymnastics!

back to "normal"

As of this week, we are the most back to normal we've been since March.  I went back to work this week!!  The kids finished their second week of school IN person and they are very busy with their sports and extra curricular activities.  Jason is still working from home, but is enjoying a little quieter work environment.

You know life is back to normal when there aren't any pictures to show for our week because we were SO busy.  We had a weekend full of baseball though!

Bryce played little league this year for the first time in 3 years.  He also made the All Star team and their first game was Friday night.

Our team came out with a win.

They played two more games on Saturday, but lost both.  They play again on Tuesday.  If we lose, we're out.  If we win, we play on Friday.  Bryce also had two games with his travel team today.  Luckily the games were early so we were done by lunch time and could relax a little this weekend!

first week of school

Bryce and Chase spent the last day of summer together on Labor Day.  They had fun playing putt putt.  The girls were at our house but I didn't snap any pictures of their fun.

We always start school the Tuesday after Labor Day.  Because of covid, our school district staggered start days since students new to buildings (K, 6th, 9th) weren't able to go to open house and orientation.  Bryce's first day was Tuesday because he was starting middle school.

He was so excited to start middle school.  Unfortunately there is only one kid from his elementary school in his class (and he doesn't know him) so it's going to be slow making friends with masks and social distanced desks.

He looks so grown!  The middle school students aren't switching classes this year because of covid so that eliminated his chance to have classes with more kids from his elementary school.

Masks are no fun, but the kids are doing great embracing it.

Thomas' mom and I were right behind each other in the pickup line the first day of school so she snapped a first day picture of these best friends.

Emmy had her first day on Wednesday.  It was also the first rainy first day of school we've ever had so we didn't get her traditional first day picture in front of the flag.

Emmy has lots of friends in her class.  Hopefully she'll have a chance to interact with them this year.

The middle school students are divided into teams.  This year they chose 90's snacks for their team names.  Bryce is on team Dunkaroos.  Chase found the snack treat at the gas station and was excited to give them to him.

Our afternoons are a series of school pick ups, extracurricular activities and dinner.  Bryce had two practices on Thursday and didn't have time for dinner before.  After I picked Emmy up from gymnastics we picked up dinner and took the leftovers to Bryce at practice.

Jason was off on Friday and it was essentially my last day off before going back to work after six months off.  We started our morning with a trip to Trader Joe's for all the fall things!

So basic, but so good!

Next we went to Cooper's Hawk for a wine tasting and lunch.

Bryce had a double header little league game on Saturday.

Bryce's friend Thomas joined us for church and lunch today.

Today after church we visited our good friends who breed labs.  The kids love it.  Emmy is so allergic, but she always wants to go back.

The kids are off of school for a teacher workday tomorrow, but it's my first day of work!  I usually don't work on workdays but I'm getting to start earlier this year and our team is meeting to get our groups scheduled for the year.

the last week of quarantine summer

I wish I had more to show of our last week of summer, but I just don't.  Covid caused us to all fall into a sense of laziness.  There were a lot of things we couldn't do because of covid, but there were lots of things we could have done, but we didn't.

We played putt-putt on Wednesday with Nana.

Emmy got to meet her teacher on Wednesday night.  She is our favorite 3rd grade teacher!

Bentley joined us at the table one night, ha!

Bryce wanted donuts for breakfast on Saturday morning.  I told him he could have them if he rode his bike to the bakery.  It's got to be half the calories that way, rigth?

Emmy and I went and got our back to school pedicures on Saturday afternoon.  We don't have any plans tomorrow for the holiday.  Bryce will go back to school on Tuesday and Emmy will go on Wednesday.  Ready or not, here we come!
