quarantine week 11

We had a fun Memorial Day.  We went to a local battlefield and walked around in the morning.  It was a tiny place but there was water!

Jason and Bryce ended up going back later in the day to fish.

This patriotic cutie wore a bow all on her own!

Emmy drew a flag to celebrate.

We got a new Bentley float for the pool.

We picked up burgers and fries from Five Guys for dinner.

S'mores on the fire pit for dessert!

Emmy finally got to go back to gymnastics on Tuesday.  The gym is doing boot camp outside to get the girls back in shape.

Emmy ordered a light up scooter online and it came!  Bryce eventually got one later in the week because he loved hers so much.

We took Nana strawberry picking on Wednesday.  I always make her a strawberry pie for her birthday so we needed to stock up.

The kids were a little unsure about the gloves (living during corona will provide many memories).

They were so sweet and so good.

We picked up Chick Fila and sandwiches from a local deli and had a picnic lunch.

Farm to table right here.  It was so good.

Emmy turned in her final assignments of the school year on Thursday.

Happy Birthday Nana!

I invited two of my mom's friends over for dinner for a small party.  They all enjoyed getting out!

Today we attended a double drive by baby shower at church.  Our associate minister (soon to be senior minister) and his wife and our worship minister and his wife are both expecting.  Jason's sister put on a fun little shower.  The wind wasn't helping with the photo booth but they had this set up for drive by or standing pictures.

There were emoji nursery rhymes to guess on the way through.  There were also party favor treats and a stop to give gifts and see the guests of honor.

The kids will still be in touch with their teachers next week, but we're taking the work load down to daily reading and maybe something I throw in every now and then!  It's pretty much summer!

quarantine week 10

Bryce started and finished his last science unit this week!  The ocean unit started with a fun salinity experiment.

We haven't been taking the kids into stores with us since quarantine so it makes it difficult to go sometimes because one of us always needs to be home with the kids.  Bryce and Jason were at baseball practice and I needed to run out so Emmy had to go.  She was excited to wear my mask.  Hers should come in the mail this week.  Apparently her doll needs one so they can really twin.

We went to another parade party this week.  Our third one during quarantine.

We needed to take a picture of us to send to the kids in the Sunday school class we teach and you would not believe how much work it was to get the dog into our lap for it.  He's a mess.

Bryce finished his last Science unit on Friday and turned in his final graded assignment of 5th grade.  He was so excited to be done.  Our school year is technically not over and I'm not sure when it will be, but the load will definitely be lighter for this guy from here on out.

With the state of pool openings in question this summer, we broke down and got a pool for the summer.  Jason worked hard leveling out the yard and getting the pool up.  The kids couldn't wait to get in it on Friday after "school".

Bryce's daily zoom calls may look a little different for the rest of the school year.

It was cold, but worth it.

The kids invited Chase and Taylor over Friday night for a sleepover.  Pizza first.

Then swimming.

Then s'mores!

They spent the majority of the day in the pool today.

I've done more mental projects in my head during quarantine than real ones.  Here is one I finally got to bring to life.  This frame had always looked so out of place by itself.  Hobby Lobby finally reopened so I went to browse and found these planters and greenery and I think it turned out perfectly.

We went to Jason's sister's house tonight for a cookout and some outdoor fun.  Bryce is enjoying using his Lifestraw to drink from the pond.  I think the idea of it is gross, but whatever.

The boys took Cheyenne for a canoe ride!

quarantine week 9

The kids had a dentist appointment scheduled for Wednesday.  Lucky for us phase 1 of reopening started in time for them to keep their appointment.  I had to wear a mask but they didn't.  You know, because they were getting their teeth cleaned.

They both checked out great at the dentist.  We always get a treat after the dentist because the "vitamins" they put on their teeth are so yucky.  Today it just so happened that the Kona Ice truck was scheduled to be in our neighborhood after their visit.  Win Win!

Nana came over for dinner Wednesday night and we had s'mores for dessert.

We tried fudge stripe cookies instead of graham crackers and Hershey bars and they were a big hit.

The church bus doubled as an ice cream truck for the day and we got an ice cream and cousin delivery!

What a fun idea and a great treat.

They even had ice cream truck music playing.

Emmy enjoyed her weekly zoom call outside this week.

The weather this week has been amazing so we've tried to soak it all in.

Restaurant patios opened on Friday and we were kidless for a few hours so we went to a favorite spot late afternoon (in hopes of them not being busy) for a drink and snack.  It was so nice to be out listening to music and relaxing at a restaurant again!

We picked up a huge piece of cake and headed home to enjoy it on the deck before the kids got home.

We have two more weeks of learning from home and hopefully more places will open for us to visit in our new found free time!

We saw the ice cream truck out tonight while we were riding bikes so we raced home because it's rare to see the truck in our neighborhood.  The kids thought it was a great way to end the weekend.

mothers day

This may have been the best Mother's Day to date!

Nothing like starting the day with a mimosa in bed!

When I came down for breakfast I was greeted with some fun gifts!  I had asked for peony plants for Mother's Day.  We found some last week that were young and had already bloomed for the season, but we're hoping to enjoy them next year.  Jason was able to cut a few from our neighbor's yard for me to enjoy now!  I also got the wine cork holder I had been wanting.  I loved Bryce's card with me and the Swiffer.

I requested chocolate Kodiak cakes with whip cream and strawberries for breakfast!

We're enjoying the slower Sunday mornings during quarantine.  After watching church from home, we headed to Jason's parents' house for lunch.

After lunch we came home and spent the afternoon outside.  Emmy and I can't wait for nail salons to open, but until then, I'm perfecting the art.  Well at least trying!

My mom wanted steaks for dinner so she brought the food and we cooked!  It was so yummy!

We made homemade peach ice cream for dessert.  Yum!  It was a day full of my favorite things; food, family and relaxation!
