wrapping up october

Both kids were out of school on Monday (as well as Chase and Taylor), so they spent the day with MeMa.  They went out to breakfast and went shopping.  Bryce enjoyed his breakfast!

It has been an unseasonably warm week, and I am here for it!!  The view out the front door was so pretty and the warm air made it even better.

A perfect night for watching Hokie football outside.

Emmy got a stellar first middle school report card, so we celebrated with ice cream after school.

Jason and I dropped the kids off at their respective Friday night events and headed out for date night.  We saw a hot air balloon fly overheard on the way.

We went to a local brewery for pizza and beer.

The sunset was stunning.

We had a few extra minutes, so we headed to a local park to catch the city lights.

We had a small window with both kids home on Saturday, so we carved pumpkins.

Emmy made us some festive treats!

The warmer weather sticks around for one more day and then I have to start accepting that fall is here and it's going to be cooooold!

a fun weekend

This week was full of school and sports, but the weekend brought some fun!

Bryce had baseball out of town on Saturday, but Emmy had some fall fun at home.  She went to the pumpkin patch with Taylor and her school friends who happen to be Emmy's gym friends.

Chase had homecoming and Emmy tagged along for pictures.

Bryce had more baseball out of town today.

Emmy had her first meet of the season.  She got her highest floor score to date and tied for second place but took third based on all around scores.

The kids went to Top Golf for youth group tonight and they're enjoying staying up late because neither of them has school tomorrow.

an eventful week

Emmy didn't have school on Monday so I scheduled her for a few appointments so she wouldn't have to miss school for them.  First up was the orthodontist for a wire and color change.  That was quick and painless.  Next up was the allergist.  Emmy was diagnosed with a peanut allergy when she was one, but she's always been sensitive to season changes and animals.  We decided to do some testing to see if we could get her some relief.  Turns out she's allergic to trees, grass, weeds, cats, dogs, horses, mold and dust.  No wonder she's miserable on a daily basis and in new environments other than our house that her immune system is used to.  She's going to start allergy shots and hopefully she'll get some relief!

Of course a treat was in order after enduring that itchy nightmare!

On Tuesday we went to Emmy's school for a pink-out volleyball game and then we went to Bryce's school for a yellow-out volleyball game for childhood cancer to support our friends the Yonces.  I forgot to take pictures!

Jason had a work event on Wednesday and I got to tag along.  It was a beer and BBQ themed dinner at the local botanical gardens.

Bryce has been practicing/working out with the high school baseball team.  Last week they started a fall world series and he got to play in two games.  Unfortunately, he was hit by a pitch in the hand on Thursday. He's had a lot of bad luck with injuries recently and he was worried it was broken.  We took him to ortho and thankfully its only inflamed cartilage.  That we can work with!  Oh, and he got a mullet this week.

Bryce went apple picking in the mountains with his girlfriend's family on Saturday and we went to a friend's Brunswick stew event.

It was a nice fall weekend!

freshman homecoming

HOCO '23

Aren't they cute!!

Bryce and his best buddy Charlie.

Bryce and his baseball buddy Brayden.

Big and little!  Jason and I went to high school with Connor's mom.

Bryce and a few of his buddies.

The guys.  All mostly with the same hair style!

There were 14 couples, and a few add ons.

I'm still learning all of their names, ha!

The group met for pictures and then headed to a neighborhood clubhouse for dinner before they went to the dance.  They danced a little, but it was a bit crowded, so they hung out at a friend's house for the rest of the evening.  It's fun watching Bryce make these memories with his friends, but boy time is flying.

fair, football and festive fall fun

The state fair was here this week.  I don't love the fair, but the rest of the family does, so we go.

Jason's cousin Josh loves the fair and gathered all the cousins before they got started and gave them each a substantial amount of money to make their rounds through the fair.

Emmy's first stop was a turkey leg; her favorite.

Bryce headed to the games and won ALL the prizes.

The gang's all here (minus Ms. Brenda - Josh's husband).

I'd say they had a successful night spending an exorbitant amount of money!

We spent the afternoon in Blacksburg on Saturday.

We hit the bookstore first so Bryce could get some Hokie merch and then we tossed the football on the drill field.

Friends of ours gave us 6 tickets to the game.  We had hoped to bring Bryce's friend Charlie (his family gave us the tickets) but he ended up having baseball.  I ended up putting together a small tailgate for us and it was so fun.

A night game!

Dreaming of the day he'll be here as a student.

I always love the marching band's fun formations.  They did the state of Virginia, HOKIES, and the VT logo.

We hosted youth group tonight.  Our youth minister wanted to paint pumpkins, so I ran with the theme.  What better way to kick off October!  I had to post a close up of the "mummy dogs" because they were too cute.

We have quite the artists.

Last week was cloudy, cool and drizzly.  The sun finally came back this weekend and it warmed up and was delightful.  I'm not ready for cold weather.  Even if it is crip fall air.  I like summer better!
