memorial day weekend

Stars and stripes leo for the holiday weekend practice!

Bryce had a 3-day tournament this weekend.  He's been nursing a shoulder injury he suffered during school tryouts in March.  We were originally told to rest it for 6 weeks.  When we followed up after six weeks, they changed the diagnosis and treatment and turns out he needed four weeks of PT.  So, while he's been missing playing baseball, he's still been attending practice and the doctor has allowed him to hit for now.

Luckily his travel team hasn't been playing games due to school ball, so he hasn't missed too much except an entire school season he had hoped to be a part of.  Friday night was the first tournament since his injury, and he had a great hit to left field for a double.  It was definitely the motivation he needed to get him over this hump.

The team lost one on Friday and another one on Saturday but managed two and half wins (the last game was called due to rain) today!  Bryce had an amazing hit to right field today for a triple.  He even came home with the player of the game award.  I'm so proud of his perseverance through this injury.

My mom turned 70 today and we've been celebrating all weekend.

Rosabeth and Dennis William came to town on Saturday and we enjoyed dinner, drinks and of course strawberry pie.

Emmy and I took my mom and her friends to brunch at the Jefferson today.

The food was delicious and they even brought her a special treat.

This was a champagne brunch and they included Emmy with sparkling apple juice.

Just a sample of some of the desserts.

One must take a picture with the iconic alligator while visiting The Jefferson Hotel.

You just can't help it, ha!

We wrapped up the celebrations tonight with cake!

I scheduled a surprise yard greeting overnight.

These are such a fun way to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Nana!

a fun week

5th graders in our county participate in the DARE program.  This program teaches students good decision-making skills for healthy living with the many temptations around them.

At the end of the program the students participate in a poster and essay contest.  Emmy won 1st place in the essay competition!!

Our pool opened this weekend.  The boys were both out of town this weekend, but Emmy and I had a small window on Saturday to enjoy the pool!

Bryce's baseball team camped at the river this weekend!

Emmy had her spring piano recital today.  She played Nine Blind Mice which is a fun version of Three Blind Mice.

So many things going on this time of year!

field trip, baseball and Mother's Day

My peonies have been in full bloom this week and I can't get enough of them!

Emmy went on her 5th grade field trip to Washington, DC this week and I got to tag along!  It was a picture-perfect day!

The world shut down for covid when Bryce was in 5th grade so he didn't get to go on this field trip.  This was the first year since covid that our school did this trip so Emmy got lucky!

These sweet girls have been friends since kindergarten!

She couldn't pass up a milkshake from the ice cream truck!

I knew Bryce had baseball all weekend so I made plans to celebrate my mom on Friday.  We got pedicures, had lunch and I got her all her spring flowers she likes.

Bryce has been nursing a shoulder injury since early March.  Unfortunately, his first diagnosis had him resting.  His follow up appointment told us he should have been doing PT for the last month.  So now we're back at square one.  Poor buddy has missed out on a lot of baseball this season.  Luckily, he was able to at least bat at the tournament this weekend.

It was a wood bat tournament.  He didn't have one so he was excited to buy a pink one!

I'd say he's a little dirty, ha!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day relaxing, enjoying some of my favorite treats and ended it watching baseball.

it's may

The boys have been going fishing on Saturday mornings recently.

Jason and I went out last weekend without the kids and ended up running into our neighbors which made it an even better date night!

May the fourth be with you!  We love a good theme!

We went to our second Squirrels game of the season this week to celebrate Bryce's friend Charlie.

The boys!

Emmy's teacher has the kids dress up as an idiom during their figurative language unit.  Can you guess hers?

Social Butterfly!
When Bryce was in 5th grade he did "bull in a China shop".

We tried out a new Mexican restaurant for Cindo de Mayo.  The decor was on point!

Emmy wore her taco leotard for the occasion.
