everything else june

Nana has a season pass to Kings Dominion so we try to bring her along when we can!

We went and saw Secret Life of Pets 2 on a hot day!

We had a fun week at VBS.

My hydrangea have been so pretty this year.  I've been using them in the house and for events!

Celebrating a friend's birthday at Richmond Wine Station.

Some days we do one fun thing and other days we pack the day with fun.  On this day, we used our summer bowling passes (shoes and 3 games everyday all summer), had pizza for lunch, got slurpees and then Bryce and I had a little date while Emmy was at gymnastics.

We're so legit with our bowling bag and own balls!

MOD Pizza for the win.

Slurpees in the shade.

A new dessert place opened near us and it is really good!

We went to a 50th birthday/retirement party for a friend and they had the Mr. Softee truck come!  We packed June full of fun.  I can only imagine July will be just as fun and busy!

RBA night

Bryce's baseball team had a fundraiser night at our local AA team tonight!

Bryce is typically shy and hangs back with us but tonight he went right up with his team and enjoyed his time with them.  The three of us had a fun night too!

Some of us baseball moms.

And a bonus, they had fireworks tonight!

birthday at the river

Happy Birthday Jason!

We enjoyed breakfast with my mom and her friend who was in town and then we headed to the river for the day with Jason's family.

A birthday fishing and riding four wheelers is well spent!

This is the 23rd birthday we've celebrated together!

Bathing beauties!

They made it from the sand to the water.

Bryce finally stopped fishing and got in the water!

We had a yummy lunch!

Riding around the river on the golf cart is always a must.

You can always count on a game of backyard baseball when the cousins and dads are together.

We sure are enjoying our summer and it's only just begun!

haricut

All of Emmy's friends were cutting their hair short at the end of the school year and she wanted to follow suit!

I like to keep her hair long because it makes it easier to put up for gymnastics.  I told her we could go as short as we could as long as it could still all go in a ponytail.

I think it turned out really cute!

fishing

Bryce has fallen in love with fishing and wants to go whenever we have free time.  We all ventured out on Jason's boat this afternoon after Emmy's softball games.

Jason had set his rod down to help Bryce and a fish almost pulled it into the water until Emmy came to the rescue!

Jason caught a tiny fish on Emmy's tiny rod!

Reeling in a big one!

Bryce gave Jason a fish scale for Father's Day!  I think I know who may use it more!

We had quite a family fun day on the water!

softball season

This was Emmy's second year playing softball and she has really fallen in love with it!  We had quite a few girls who had never played before so it was definitely a learning year for most of the girls.  There were only two others teams in our division so we got used to playing and unfortunately losing to the same teams each week.  However, here we are on our last game of the season and we came up with a WIN!!  Our first win at home this year!  We had one other win of the season but it was against a team from a different little league that we only played once.

We were even missing two girls at this game!

Our team sponsor was Papa Murphy's Pizza.  This was our first game that ended at a time where we could go get pizza and pay it forward to our team sponsor!

Maybe she'll be on the Rockies for the third year in a row next year!

ardillas voladoras

Ever since Bryce started elementary school, we have gone to watch our local AA baseball team the Flying Squirrels on the last day of school (always on a Thursday).  This year, we had another engagement to attend so the kids agreed that a Friday night game would be just as good.  This year the team has gone Spanish on Friday night home games and they are the Ardillas Voladoras (flying squirrels in Spanish).

The kids have slowly built their stash of swag for the Spanish version of the team. On this particular night they were giving away masks!  Aren't we cute?!?

He's got the hat, mask, cape and jersey.
#1 fan right there

This was a great way to kick off summer vacation!

last day of school

Today was the last day of 4th and 1st grade!

These two had the best teachers and both thrived this year.

Bryce wins the award for most changed.  I can't say he looks older, but very different.  He changed his hairstyle and got rid of his glasses and I can't get used to it!
Once the teeth start coming out, they never look the same.
Jason and I attended Bryce's award ceremony this morning and were so proud of all the awards he received and all he accomplished this year.

This year far exceeded every expectation I had for his fourth grade year!

I don't want to brag, but it was like the Bryce Whitlock awards show.  Here are the awards he received:

Classroom Spelling Bee winner
P.E. Fitness Award
Running Club Award
Outstanding Attendance (missed no more than 3 days and less than 5 tardies)
Principals List (straight A's) for all 4 nine weeks and for the school year
Accelerated Reader award for reading the most books in his class
Reading Olympics Award for reading all 32 books
Green Screen Award for his wax museum participation
And best of all, he passed all of his SOLs (standards of learning - state test) and received a perfect score on his Social Studies test!

An ice cream treat after school was a must!

We typically go to a Flying Squirrels baseball game on the last day of school but Jason and I have a retirement dinner to attend tonight so we decided to go tomorrow instead!

end of the year parties

The kids hit the jackpot this year with their teachers and classmates!

I organized an ice cream party for Bryce's class today.  We had sundaes and then they did a fun year end memory activity with their classmates and they gave their teacher a class gift to a nail salon to thank her for such an amazing year!

Emmy's class ended up scheduling an ice cream party at the last minute for today so I hopped back and forth and got pictures from friends.

Emmy had the same teacher as Bryce for first grade and we just adore her.

Emmy met this sweet group of girls in kindergarten and they were all together again this year.  Hoping for the same next year!

Emmy isn't quite ready for the end of school.  She says she's going to miss her teacher and friends!

I can't believe how quickly this year went, but it truly was a great year for both kids!
