it's almost spring break

Emmy and her friend Norah dressed alike for twin day!

Bryce got beaned by a baseball last weekend and it was as purple as his shirt one day this week.

We had a taste of spring on Friday and enjoyed an evening by the fire.

I helped host a baby shower for my friend Kathryn on Saturday.  It was so good so see friends I haven't seen in a year!

We had a picnic and Easter egg hunt after church today!

That's a lot of eggs.

I didn't take many pictures so I made the kids pose with their loot.

One more week and we're on spring break!

a lucky week

We celebrated St. Patrick's Day with plenty of green and gold!

Yummy treats for dessert.

A green beverage to round out the day.

So maybe there was an unlucky spot in the week.  Bryce's Hokies lost and his bracket got quite busted this weekend!

We visited our friends' french bull dog puppies this weekend.

They were so cute and all sold!  We are NOT getting a puppy!

Emmy had a gymnastics meet today.

This was the last meet before the state meet.

Emmy started off well on the floor, but the beam was not on her side today.  Luckily she rebounded after a fall on the beam and came back with her highest bar and vault scores to date.

She placed 1st on vault with a 9.650.

She placed 1st on bars with a 9.4.

She also placed 4th on floor with a 9.250.

She placed 2nd all around with a qualifying score to take her to states!

Jason and I had to divide and conquer today because Bryce had early morning baseball games. They won their first two games and didn't give up a single run.  That put them in position for the championship game tonight.

The boys came up short as runner-up again this week.

They play again next weekend and then get a break for Easter!

2nd place finishes for both today.

So proud of these two and their dedication to their sports!

a good week

We enjoyed a spell of warm weather this week and had a fun evening watching basketball on the deck.

The host gym did not put the athletes on the podium at the meet last weekend due to covid so they sent medals this week.  Emmy was so excited for her new hardware.

Friday was tie dye spirit day at school.

We did a little pre St. Patrick's Day celebrating with green doughnuts on Saturday.

Bryce's baseball season kicked off on Saturday.  His team went 1-1.

I joke that Bryce has been working on his hair in the off season!  He's been working on his game too!  He was pretty close to hitting one out today!

His team made it to the championship today but fell short in the end.  But second place isn't a bad way to start off the season!

Emmy got to go to a fun painting birthday party today.  Her piece turned out so cute!

We were so busy that we didn't celebrate pi day today.  No pizza or pie for us today.  Maybe next year!

the emmy show with an appearance by bryce

As Bryce gets older I feel like he's in front of the camera less often, but he makes an appearance this week.

We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America Week at school this week.  I practically had to beg Emmy to wear her Cat in the Hat dress.  I promised her this year (third grade) would be the last time I'd make her wear it.  We also had dress like a book character day and Emmy chose Pinkalicious.  Our friend Barbara whipped up this outfit in no time!

Today was a busy day.  I snapped a picture of these two cuties at church before we all went different ways.  After church we ate a quick lunch, dropped Bryce off at baseball practice and then headed to Chesapeake for Emmy's gymnastics meet.  So thankful for our village that made it all possible.

Emmy's meet was all virtual with no spectators so Jason and I went to dinner and had a date over zoom!  Emmy did so well.  She got her best floor (9.250 - 4T), beam (9.0 - 2), and bar (9.275 - 3) scores to date and did great as usual on vault (9.5 - 3).  She placed 2nd all around!

Due to covid protocol there wasn't an awards ceremony so she'll get her medals at practice this week.  She did get a shamrock duck (the meet was the Shamrock Invitational) for not falling off the beam though!  We love watching her have fun and improve in a sport she loves!
