Mr. Personality

Bryce is 9 weeks old today! He is really starting to show us some personality. We thought it was exciting when he followed us with his eyes. It is even more exciting now that he has started smiling at us! He gets a big grin on his face and then opens his mouth like he wants to laugh. I tried to capture it in this picture.

Day 2.....only 33 to go

Kelly had Bryce today. She took the boys to visit PaPa in the hospital where he is recovering from knee surgery. Looks like they all had a great time (except for the surgery part)!

I think it should be a law that all moms have to stay at home with their kids! I get pictures like this one sent to me at work and I kick myself for not saving my paychecks for the last 4 years so I could stay home with my precious baby everyday. I thought going to work would get easier each day, but I'm not sure it will.

Back to work : (

It was hard going back to work today and saying good-bye to my little man this morning. I shed a few tears as I handed him over to Kathryn. He had a smile on his face when I left and by the looks of this picture, he had a smile on his face throughout the day. I'm sure he had his moments, but I think he is happy with his Monday/Wednesday babysitter! Only 34 more days until I'm home again!

2 months

I can't believe Bryce is 2 months old today. I really can't believe that I have to go back to work on Monday!! The past 8 weeks have been amazing and I'm going to miss my little man so much . I'm sure I will spend most of the day tomorrow sulking and hoping the day goes by VERY slowly. I have already told Jason that I'm not going to wear mascara on Monday. I just hope I can control the tears once I get to school. My students won't know what to do if I start crying on them, HA!! I know things will be rough at first, but I'm bound to get used to it. Luckily the school year will be over by the time I get used to it. I think we skipped spring and went right to summer. Bryce looked so cute with his shorts on and his legs hanging out today!

I had to add this picture because I just think it is so cute when Bryce looks out over my shoulder. We spend a lot of time in front of the mirror so I can see his sweet face!

I think Bryce likes the camera!

2 month check up

Bryce had his 2 month check up today. He weighs 11 pounds (up from 9lbs at his 1 month check up). He is still in the 50th percentile for weight. He is 22 3/4 inches long (up from 21 3/4 at his 1 month check up). He is still in the 50th percentile for height. And if head circumference means anything to you, his head is 15 1/8 inches (up from 14 1/2 inches at his 1 month check up). He is still in the 25th percentile for his head. The doctor said he is doing great and slightly advanced in his mobility. He very much wanted to roll from his belly to his back while we were in the doctor's office today. She said babies don't normally do that until 4 months! Bryce had 4 shots today. The doctor said he may get a fever and will have some "fussiness" for the next 48 hours. He was fussy right after the shots but calmed downed by the time we left. Here he is, cool as a cucumber, as we left the doctor's office!

Below is a picture of Bryce and Jason when we got home from the doctor, just relaxing and watching tv. Bryce is talking to his Daddy and not showing signs of having 4 shots. I am sure the scene will change in an hour when I leave to go to school for a little while and leave the 2 of them alone. I felt bad for leaving Jason with Bryce today, knowing that he may be fussy from his shots, but.........it had to be done!

Bath Time (7 weeks)

Bryce was 7 weeks old yesterday. Here is a picture from bath time last night.

Well I thought we had a good bath/bedtime routine down, but things didn't go so well last night. Bryce was very fussy all evening. Probably because he slept very little yesterday afternoon. I thought the perfect solution would be to give him a bath, feed him, and put him to bed early. NOT!! His little body definitely knows the difference between 8:30 and 9:30. When we put him to bed, he usually sleeps until 3 before he needs to eat. Let's just say he needed to eat TWICE before 3 o'clock last night! Hopefully things will go back to normal tonight!

Happy Easter

Matching Outfits
MeMaw bought Bryce and Chase matching shirts to wear today. We tried a couple of times to get a good picture of the two, but it's hard capturing the perfect picture when you're dealing with babies. We took pictures at church in front of the flowered cross and Bryce was awake, but Chase was sleeping. We decided not to use those pictures since Jason's photography skills aren't up to par yet! I settled for this picture because you can at least see that the boys were wearing matching shirts. Hope everyone had a happy Easter!
Bryce's First Easter Basket
We went and visited Nana and Pappy yesterday and they gave Bryce this adorable little Easter Basket. He got a Baby Einstein DVD, an Old MacDonald puppet book, and eggs full of money!! What a perfect basket for a little baby boy!!

Bryce's First Words/Sounds

Bryce has been cooing for a few days now, but today was extra exciting! His changing table is his favorite place. He plays with a hanging toy and does most of his talking here. We decided to post a video so everyone else could hear his sweet sounds since he is sleeping when most people see him. Enjoy!

Bass Pro Shop & 6 Weeks

Bryce is 6 weeks old today! We went to Bass Pro Shop for dinner and then did some shopping. As we were walking through the store, we spotted this lovely crib with a camo bumper and blanket. It's a good thing Jason didn't know anything like this existed or I'm sure Bryce would have had this bed! Kelly had the great idea of putting Bryce in it for a picture! It would have been a cute picture if we had Jason's good camera, unfortunately it doesn't fit in the diaper bag. Oh well. You will just have to settle for this picture with his hand in his eye.

A Dream Come True

Jason has been patiently awaiting the arrival of his recliner so he could do just this!! Bryce was pretty fussy last night and the only thing that made him happy was laying on his tummy. It was an added bonus that the recliner came yesterday and Jason could lay with him. Two cute boys!!

Macy's New Trick

Apparently we have neglected Macy a bit with Bryce's arrival. She gets plenty to eat, but not because we remember to feed her, but because she constantly reminds us! Usually she sits in the room with her food and whines until someone comes and gives her what she wants. I guess she has gotten tired of that. She has now learned how to pick up her bowl and bring it to us when she wants to eat. It's so sad that it has come to this, but it is so cute. I made a video of her carrying the bowl, but it didn't turn out that great, oh well.

New House

If all goes as planned, this will be our new home in a few months. I tried to get a picture of the additional garage in the back, but I'm not the greatest photographer! We are trying to get our house ready so it is more appealing to buyers. Last night we worked in the yard and planted spring flowers and cut the grass. We're working on getting a new roof and porch railings. If things don't work out for the move, at least we will feel like we're living in a new house.

5 weeks - yesterday

I didn't have time to post these pictures yesterday. I think Bryce likes the camera! He has started looking right at Jason when he takes pictures. As you can see in this picture, Bryce has started losing his hair. He still has a line of very thin hair right around his forehead. Last week his head was peeling pretty bad. With each piece of skin that came off, a chunk of hair came out with it. We are having a hard time keeping his nails short. He is constantly scratching his face to pieces. It doesn't help that his face has broken out in a rash or baby acne. Oh the things you learn about babies! Last week I really thought we were making strides with good sleeping patterns, but the past two night have not proven to be as successful. I had gotten to the point where I was getting up 1-2 times to feed Bryce at night. We are back to 2-3 times a night and him ready to be awake for the day before 6am! Jason assures me once he gains enough weight he will sleep better. I would think he is gaining pretty quickly since he wants to eat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Hope you enjoyed the detailed update on our precious boy!

FOR SALE

8290 North Mayfield Lane is officially for sale. I'm still in shock as I look at the for sale sign in front of our house. Last summer Jason and I were looking at houses to prepare for the new baby. When we couldn't find anything that met our needs/wants, we gave up. We found that our house was perfectly suitable, even with the addition of a new baby. So why are we moving, you ask?! Who knows!! For some reason, I went online last week and searched for houses that would meet our need for 4 cars worth of garage space. Believe it or not...........there was 1 house. Jason and I went and looked at the house and it was love at first sight for Jason. I was not as convinced. We went back a second time and I was a little less pleased and Jason was still all for it. After much thought and deliberation, we decided to take the plunge. We have put an offer on the house and will have to wait to see if our house sells before moving further. I know I will love the new house in the end, but leaving our first house is more emotional than I ever imagined.
