memorial day weekend

I have so enjoyed the first blooms of my peonies this year!

We celebrated my Mama's birthday this week.

Friday brought us halfway through the end of year alphabet countdown at school.  M is for mismatch.

It was a rainy Friday night so we stayed in and had game night.

The kids went to Kings Dominion with Chase and Taylor after church on Sunday.

It's safe to say they had fun.

Emmy caught a bass tonight.

Bryce wasn't going to let her show him up.  He caught one too!

Kelly and Dave's neighbors got baby goats.  They're adorable.

The holiday weekend started off cold and rainy, but ended sunny and warmer.

summer is coming

Medals finally came in on Tuesday from Emmy's state meet on Mother's Day!  She placed for vault (tied for 5th), beam (tied for 4th) and floor (6th).  She also completed her first SOL test (standardized state testing) on Tuesday so we stopped at Bruster's on the way home from the gym to celebrate!

Her team placed 10th in the state!

We enjoyed dinner in the town of Ashland on Wednesday night.

Jason and Bryce went to their first Squirrels game of the season on Thursday night.

I got peonies last year for Mother's Day.  One plant had already bloomed for the season and the other was still young.  I had no idea what to expect this year but I was so excited when I saw the color.  The other plant is white but it hasn't bloomed yet.

Bryce went to the river for the weekend with his baseball team so we had Emmy all to ourselves so we headed to Kings Dominion for opening day.

She was excited to ride all the roller coasters she's been too short to ride.

Fast, bumpy, upside down, she loved them all!

She requested a ride on Nana's golf cart.

We wrapped up the night with a movie on the deck.

Bryce's team spent two nights at the river and had lots of fun fishing, kayaking and playing wiffle ball.

It takes a special person to invite 9 boys to the river for a weekend!

It was hot on Sunday so Emmy asked us to pull out the water slide.  She invited a friend over and they played for hours!

I was so happy to see Bryce on Sunday afternoon when he got home.

We wrapped up the weekend with smore's around the fire.

outside

We love spring weather and longer days and all we want to do is be OUTSIDE!

Evening walks

Happy hour

Fires when the sun goes down.

Bryce decided it was time for a haircut.

I think he looks older.

Bryce had a two day tournament this weekend.  2 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.  We won one and lost one both days.

Bryce had a great weekend.  Great hits, great base running and great plays in the field!

mother's day weekend

Jason and I got out for a date night on Friday night to kick off the weekend.

The kids got a chance to ride the go-kart on Saturday night.

Emmy had her state meet on Sunday morning.  Daddy surprised her with flowers afterward.  She had a great meet with a little hiccup on the bars.

Vault - 9.650 (continues to be her highest)
Bars - 8.400
Beam - 9.400 (highest to date)
Floor - 9.400 (highest to date)

It was a nice Mother's Day morning for sure.

Emmy and her level 3 coaches.

Our gym placed 10th in the state out of 24.

The girls each gave their moms a flower!

After lunch with Jason's mom we headed home for a wonderful day outside.

We played four square, ate sushi and made smores!

The sky put on another pretty show this Sunday too!

catching up

I haven't had much to blog about recently, but we had a few things going on this week worthy of documenting!

My girlfriend had a baby two weeks ago and we got to keep her frenchie while they were in the hospital.  All she wanted to do was play with Bentley, but he was terrified of her.

The kids had a flex learning day (no school) on Monday so we went to Drive Shack for some fun.

I beat the boys in dart golf!

Bryce got braces on Tuesday!  His teeth hurt for a few days but he seems to be use to them now.  I've already had to take him back for pokey wires and now tonight he has a loose wire.  Ugh!

We had an out of town tournament for Bryce's travel team this weekend.  In the four years that he's been on this team, this is the first time we've actually traveled.

We were matched up with the two best teams on Saturday and ended up losing both games.

The boys played well and kept it close today, but came up short 6-5.

Emmy is such a good sport!

Our game wasn't until 12:30 today so we found a local park to walk this morning.

I looked up at some point during the game today and saw this cool rainbow in the clouds.

It was fun to go away and do something different and spend time with the baseball team and families.  It was definitely great team building for all ages!
