jason's birthday and the first week of summer

We kicked off our first week of summer at the pool on Monday.  The kids helped Nana pick weeds at her church and then we went to the pool to cool off!

Tuesday was Jason's birthday.  We celebrated with family on Saturday night.

Jason took off on Tuesday so we spoiled him all day.  We started with chicken minis for breakfast.

We found a new to us BBQ joint for lunch and got frozen custard for dessert.

Wednesday was full of appointments and sports so I don't have any pictures.  The weather was perfection on Thursday so we hit Kings Dominion with Nana.

Emmy always wants her hair short.  It's easier to have it long for gymnastics but I told her she could cut it during the off season so that's what we did on Friday.

We're twins now!

We've also had VBS every night this week but I didn't manage to take one picture.

last week of school

The last week of school had us off our normal routine.  Bryce was exempt from classes on Tuesday so I entertained him and his buddies for the day!  We played putt putt, walked the trails at a local park and had Sonic for lunch.  They wrapped up the day playing wiffle ball in the backyard.

Meanwhile Emmy was at school all day enjoying fun things like a pizza and ice cream party with her class.

Emmy got out of school early on Wednesday so I took her and Taylor to lunch at MOD Pizza and then we checked out the new cookie place in town.  So good!

These girls have been best friends since kindergarten.  They made these fun t-shirts at a birthday party on Sunday and decided to all wear them to school on the same day for a fun picture!

Thursday was the last day of school.  We were excited to have the option to send our kids back to school face to face back in September.  We had no idea how it would look or how long it would last, but it was successful.  Both kids were able to attend school in person five days a week and neither had to be quarantined during the year!

We didn't know what to expect with Bryce starting middle school, but he thrived!

I don't have any pictures to show for our first day of summer break on Friday buy Emmy and I went to Kings Dominion with Kelly and Taylor and Bryce and Jason went to Top Golf with Dave, Chase and PaPa and then spent the afternoon at the pool.

Our local peach orchard opened for the season on Saturday so we picked peaches to make ice cream for Jason's early birthday celebration that night!

And today we spent Father's Day on the baseball field and then treated Jason to his favorite meals and some shopping!

a fun week and weekend

Jason and I got out for a midweek day date before the kids are home for summer!  We went to Upper Shirley for some wine tasting and then we had lunch at Indian Fields Tavern.

I planned a girls trip this weekend with a friend because Jason and Bryce were going to be out of town on a fishing trip.  It was not the best weekend for the beach, but we made do.  It was rainy when we arrived so we hit up a fun lunch spot I've always wanted to visit.

The skies miraculously cleared for a while and we were able to put our toes in the sand!

We cleaned up after some fun in the sun and went to Rockafeller's for dinner.

We tried to take a walk on the boardwalk after dinner but it started raining again so we enjoyed the balcony instead.

After brunch on Saturday morning we headed home because there was no sun in sight.  Emmy stayed home with Taylor and MeMa but was so excited to have me back home and all to herself.

The boys had a wet first night on the their fishing/camping trip but the skies cleared for them on day two!

We've got four more days of school before summer break and everyone is ready!

Emmy's piano recital and some other fun weekend things

Emmy had her spring piano recital on Friday night.

Recital ready!

We just love her teacher!

Her teacher opened up a music studio this year having done piano lessons from her home in the past.  These are just the students that performed on Friday.  They had another recital on Thursday!

Emmy played her piece from memory and did a great job!

MeMa and PaPa brought her flowers.  So sweet!

All her fans came to listen.

We celebrated with ice cream afterwards!

Saturday brought some baby snuggles.

They were so excited to meet baby Ella.

We took Bryce and some friends on a scavenger hunt in the city Sunday for a History project.

He's excited because these boys are neighbors and they have a neighborhood pool and they got to swim after sweating all afternoon!

Emmy spent the afternoon at Nana's pool and then we joined them for dinner.  We had ribs for dinner to honor Pap who has been gone for five years now.

We finished the night with a golf cart ride.

I'm already on my summer break and the kids can't wait for theirs to start!
