bryce is 7

Last night as a 6 year old.

Bryce wanted a "real" Bible for his birthday.  We have a few kid versions and a new Testament that he got at baby dedication, but he wanted one like in "big church".  He was super excited!

Two years ago Jason started the tradition of taking Bryce to Waffle House for breakfast because he had never been there and wanted to go.  We were up early so he could get to school on time!

Bryce's school participates in the Watch DOGS program which provides male role models for students.  Jason signed up to do it on Bryce's birthday so they went to school together on Thursday!

Bryce only buys two foods in the school cafeteria and they were serving one of his favorites on his birthday.  He and Jason bought lunch and Emmy and I came with bakery treats for dessert!  This is one of Bryce's little friends from class.

Bryce chose his favorite Pizza place for dinner and arcade games for our family dinner.

He had a great birthday and we're looking forward to more celebrating at his party today!

valentine's day

When I sat down with Emmy to do her Valentine's I figured she would sign her name and I would write her classmates names.  She said she wanted to do it all.  I was blown away at how well she knew her letters!  Way to go Emmy!

A little cookie decorating at her class party.

A few little treats!

Lots of loot for this boy!  We I have had enough of Bryce's long hair!  He finally gave in to a haircut after church on Sunday.  No after pictures though!

Emmy and Taylor wore their matching LuLaRoe leggings to church on Sunday!

Happy heart day!

Emmy is 4

Jason and I were out of town until late Friday night, but my mom kept the kids up late for us and we were able to put Emmy to bed on her last night as a 3 year old.

The sweetest four year old I know!

Emmy chose everything we did on her birthday.  We started off going out to breakfast with Jason's family, visited Nana and Pap, went to Taylor's basketball game and then we were off to her gymnastics party!

Bryce took a couple of sessions of gymnastics when he was younger, but we can't convince him to go back.  He's pretty good at it and I think he would really like it.

All the kids had a great time!

Emmy wanted a My Little Pony party this year.  We purchased the plates and napkins and had the gym make My Little Pony themed favors.  When we went to order her cake, she saw Doc McStuffins and totally changed her mind on the theme, ha!

We went out to dinner after her party and then we went over to Chase and Taylor's to play a while.  It was a full and fun day for our birthday girl.

On Sunday after church and lunch, we headed over to my parents house for a family celebration!

Chase and Taylor came back to our house to play for the afternoon and then we went back to their house for the Super Bowl.  The ride over put Emmy right to sleep!  Her fun weekend finally caught up with her!

We finished up her birthday festivities on Monday.  She got a Barnes and Noble gift card and we're members of the kids club so I took her for her free treat and she did a little shopping.

We went for her 4 year well visit this morning.  She checked out great and took her 3 shots like a champ!

Emmy's big girl room

A sweet little girl in our house is turning 4 on Saturday and she needed a new room for her big girl status!  I re-did Bryce's room over the summer and really had a vision for his space.  I knew I wanted Emmy's room to be super girly, kind of shaby chic, but didn't really know where to go from there.  I found the bed spread over the summer when I was doing Bryce's room so I kind of went from there.

I'm slowly painting all the rooms in our house Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore.  It's the color of our downstairs, Bryce's room and now Emmy's room.

I didn't want to do any other pink in the room for fear of making it too childish.  Yes, she's 4, but I want this room to grow with her.  I decided to do white and gold accents.  And you can never grow out of a monogram!

Gold accents were easy to add to the room!

I really wanted to keep the décor simple and I can't stand having a lot of stuff everywhere.  This picture was in Emmy's nursery and I don't think I'll ever change it!  The little shoes hold her first haircut trimmings and one day, her first lost tooth!

I had some fun with the gallery wall.  I already had the mirror from Pottery Barn kids and the letter E.  I really wanted to incorporate deer antlers, but couldn't find any that I loved.  Good thing I have a hunter husband and he was willing to share, mount them and spray paint them!!!  The mirror sunbursts came in a set from Marshall's and I found the love picture at Tuesday Morning.  I want to do a lucite tray with her monogram for the dresser, but that area is a work in progress.
