boating, football and baseball oh my!

Emmy's class went on a boat field trip on the James River this week.

Jason came across some tickets to the Virginia Tech game so we took a road trip to Blacksburg on Saturday.

We enjoyed tailgating with friends before the game.

The kids enjoyed it too!

We've taken the kids to the spring game before, but this was their first real game at Lane Stadium!

My best girl on National Daughter Day!  Go Hokies!

Bryce and Charlie connected last year at school which allowed us to reconnect to Charlie's parents.  We went to high school with his dad so it's been fun getting together with the boys and our families.

Such a great day for this kiddo!

Bryce had two games today and his team won both!  It was a beautiful day for baseball.

Fall is here and we're here for it!  We definitely did all the fall things this weekend!

back to school

We had a low key Labor Day on Monday.  The kids went to the pool with MeMa and PaPa and the cousins and then we cooked out with our neighbors.

We typically start school on Tuesday after Labor Day but our county now does a staggered start because of covid changes so we didn't start until Wednesday.  So we lived up our last day of summer.  We went to the pool with Nana and then went to lunch and dessert.

Jason's sister took the kids to Vampire Penguin for fancy shaved snow so they wanted to go back.

Everyone was up much earlier than usual on Wednesday for the first day of school.

4th and 7th graders this year.

Aren't they cute?!?

After I got both kids to school I met up with some girlfriends for brunch!

Emmy and her besties are in class together again this year!

Bryce wanted to go to the Nascar race since it was in Richmond this weekend.  Jason's not much of a race fan, but he obliged and took the boys!

Bryce had baseball games after church today.  His team went 1-1.

This week will be our first full week of school with sports every night!  I'm sure we'll be ready for Friday night!

last full week of summer vacation

I tried to pack in some fun this week as we wrap up summer vacation.  We hung around the house Monday morning and then went to the pool with Nana and then met the Caddells at the snow shack after their first day of school.  Second year in a row we've met here on their first day.  Tradition?!

Tuesday was our annual beach day with the Shipleys.  This was our 9th year of beaching with them.

I thought some throwback pictures were in order.

2013 | 2021

Yorktown Beach was our original destination but we had a jellyfish sting a few years back and the kids are afraid to go back so we've been going to Jamestown Beach for the past three years.

Bryce had his seventh grade open house on Wednesday.  We ran into three of his baseball buddies while there.  The boys are definitely in sync on and off the field!

I didn't take any pictures on Thursday but Jason was able to join us for some putt putt and lunch.

We took Nana to Kings Dominion on Friday for one last visit this season.

Bryce had baseball practice on Friday but we let him skip so we could watch the first Hoke football game of the season.  It was a good game!  Go HOKIES!

The kids usually start school on Tuesday after Labor Day but our school system does a staggered start due to Covid so the kids get an extra day off!  We'll be living it up while we can!
