baseball

I'm pretty sure it rained every other day in September if not every day!  Bryce's baseball games got rained out the first 4 weekends in a row.  But I'm happy to report that they got to play today and they had an amazing start to the season!

The boys won their first two games and went on to the championship and won that as well!  Their team sure has improved over the last year!

Proud parents!

early release

The kids and I got out of school early today so we headed to the park.  Emmy had this park on her summer bucket list but we never made it over the summer.  However, it sure felt like summer today!

Slurpees were a must after working up a sweat at the playground!

new floors

The carpet in our living room was brand new when we moved in, but it wasn't a great quality.  It's gotten pretty worn in 8 years so it was time for a change.

We pulled it up and Jason put down laminate.  I think it turned out really well.  I was nervous about the color because I went in wanting something in the gray family and then ended up going with a dark wood.

We just need a rug to pull it all together and then it will be done!

The lighting doesn't really do it justice.

Here is a good after picture with better lighting.

1st day of school

Last night before bed we read The Night Before First Grade to get ready for today!  Her teacher actually recorded herself reading the book so we watched and followed along with our book.  So fun!

Everyone was up and ready and all smiles this morning.

Fourth grade?!?  I can't believe it!  I feel like they grow up so much from here!  I'm excited about fourth grade though since I have a little experience there!

Ready for first grade!

She still looks pretty cute even though she wouldn't wear a dress!

They're the cutest!

Silly boy!

The kids were all smiles after school and seem very excited about going back.

We went to Bruster's after dinner to celebrate their great day!

open house (meet the teacher)

Thursday was open house/meet the teacher day!

Bryce never likes to dress up and volunteered to wear this outfit to meet his teacher.  Score!  Emmy has decided she isn't gong to wear dresses to school anymore, but she agreed to wear one to meet her teacher.  They're so cute!

We went to Emmy's class first.  She got Mrs. Houston who Bryce had in first grade.  She was SO excited!

Love this sweet girl.

Emmy's friend Stevie from kindergarten is in her class.  Her mom works at the school too!  She has quite a few friends from kindergarten in her class!

Bryce was up next.  We met his teacher Mrs. Cross and his student teacher.

He has lots of friends in his class this year!

Bryce and Thomas haven't been in the same class since kindergarten so they were happy!

I think they're going to have a great year!

last week of summer

I wanted to pack the kids' last week of summer full of fun!

Two other moms from the neighborhood (who's kids were in Emmy's kindergarten class) and I took our kids to Great Wolf Lodge on Monday.

We had been two year ago and the kid are always asking when we could go back so I was excited when the other moms schemed up a plan to go!

We got a suite that slept all 8 of us.

I took the kids to the candy store for a late night treat after playing in the water all day.

YUM!

Checking out their loot!

We could have stayed for a second day of the water park, but we already had plans to go to Yorktown Beach for our annual beach trip with the Shipleys on Tuesday.

Ben and Jerry's is a must after swimming all day!

The trolley ride is also a favorite after ice cream!

We headed home from two days of fun and these kids were worn out.

We took it easy on Wednesday and then went to our last Squirrles game of the season.

I managed to get in front of the camera for a picture since I'm always behind it!

It was a hot night so Dip N Dots were quite nice!

The kids were excited to do water balloons on Thursday.  Bunch O Balloons were on clearance at Target so they each picked a pack!

After water balloons we got cleaned up and headed to school to meet the kids' teachers (separate post to come).

Friday was family fun day!!  We didn't mark everything off the bucket list this summer, but Emmy was excited we made it to Boomerang!

I'd be fine to never go back to these trampoline arenas (hello broken bones), but the kids love it and they have so much fun on the ninja warrior courses.

They're stronger than I am!

We did a little shopping and the kids each got a pool float because they were such a steal.

We tested out the peacock at Nana's pool on Saturday.

And they tested out the flag at MeMa's pool on Sunday.

Back to family fun day!  We have been seeing a lot of pictures of crazy shakes from a little bakery a few counties over from us.  We were somewhat close on Friday so we decided to give it a try.  The wait was super long so we probably won't be back, but the shakes were so fun and so good!

Bryce was excited to round out his weekend with a canoe ride in Kelly and Dave's pond!

It is safe to say that we've had a GREAT summer!
