halloween 2014

Bryce was Dusty from the Planes movie (we got it on super clearance at the end of last season) and Emmy was Minnie Mouse (she picked it out all by herself)!

Jason was Joe Dirt (need I say more?!?).

The cousins.

I got this fun popcorn idea from Pinterest for trunk or treat this year.  We borrowed our church's popcorn maker to make it more authentic.  Everyone loved snacking on some popcorn while they trick or treated!

Now to eat all the candy!!

kindergarten field trip

Bryce finally got his turn to go the pumpkin patch like Emmy and I got to tag along as a chaperone.

I enjoyed meeting some of Bryce's new friends he's met in class and is always talking about at home.

The kids got to do lots of fun things like learn about the life cycle of pumpkins, learn the types of pumpkins, corn maze, bouncy houses, duck races, corn kernel pit, and a hayride to the pumpkin patch.

They really seemed to enjoy the pig races.

The class picture (only missing one student).
I'm kind of surprised how many kids are in his class.  I would like to see a smaller class size with this age group, but it's not my decision!

The perfect pumpkin (that I carried around for 20 minutes until he found another perfect pumpkin).  We ended up bringing home a green pumpkin!

I had a great day with my sweet boy and am thankful for the one on one time together!

we've been having fun

I went out with some girls from my MOPS group on Thursday night and we had the best time.  We painted pottery and then got ice cream.

I'm pretty excited about my chevron plate.  I used frog tape to get the nice lines!  I wish I had painted the stripes a coral color and then I could have gone back over it with the blue to do a monogram.  Oh well, maybe next time!

Even though this picture is from Saturday night, our Friday night looked the same, minus the pumpkins.  We had some friends who have started coming to our church over Friday night to do s'mores.

Saturday night we had friends come over to carve pumpkins, eat chili and roast more s'mores.

We bought such a big pumpkin that we were able to do two designs.

Our kids love any chance they can get to play with baby Aaron.

After our friends left, we headed down the street to a neighbor's house where we hung out for a while and the kids were spoiled with toys and such.  They were excited to play with them this morning since it was TOO late last night once we finally got home.

Bryce LOVES legos.  He started the set before church.

He finished it once we got home from church!

Happy Sunday and happy weekend everyone.  We're off to our last race in a little bit!

gymnastics

Emmy finished her first eight week session of gymnastics on Friday.  She has really enjoyed it and I've already signed her up for the next session.  She will probably be in her same class (skill level) for the next year, but she gets an evaluation and certificate each session!  Here she was waiting her turn for the podium.

I started the video a little late and it's hard to hear, but the coach calls her name, she comes up, she says "ta-da", and then gets her button and certificate.

I tried to get a picture of her with her certificate and button while on the podium.

I was a little more successful once she got down.

rewind to LAST sunday

Last Sunday was super busy.  Bryce and Jason left right after church to get a quick lunch before heading out to visit people for home communion, with a stop for a birthday party in between visits.  Preschool and baseball friend, Henry, invited him to Pump It Up to jump to celebrate his 6th birthday.

Bryce and Henry are two shy peas in a pod!  Bryce was nervous about going because he would only know Henry and he was worried he'd be playing with his other friends.  He was glad that Jason went with him and jumped with him at the party.  He and Henry played together a lot too!

While the boys were out, Emmy and I went to a baby shower for Jason's cousin Vanessa.  She'll be adding another little girl to the mix come December.

We all met back up later in the evening for Bryce's weekly race.  Emmy had shown some interest in it so I told her she could run in the last race.  However, the more we talked about it, she was ready to start right away!

Cousins

She jumped right in with the other kids and never looked back.

She loved E.V.E.R.Y. second of it.  Look at the smile on her face at the end when she comes up to the finish line.  Priceless!

emmy's first haircut

I've been talking about getting Emmy's haircut for the last month, but I just haven't been able to make myself do it.  I'm not going to lie that I'm a bit envious of her long hair.  My hair grows so slow and it seems to get to a point where it just stops growing.  I digress.  Emmy's hair looked so unkempt in the back that I just knew I needed to bite the bullet!

She was so excited to finally get her turn for a haircut.  She was so good the whole time.

She may or may not know she's super cute!

Sweet girl.

Before and after.

I didn't take a picture, but we did save some of her hair for a keepsake!

if it weren't for my phone, i wouldn't have any pictures anymore

We had a little fun in the Halloween section at Target a while back.  I tried not think about how many people had tried those things on before them!

We had a rainy day last week and Emmy took advantage of it!

My babies!

Jason felt as though our newly finished kitchen needed a new accessory so he ordered me a Kitchen Aid.  I've already made sugar cookies, a cake and REAL icing.  I've never made icing before, but I may never go back to the canned kind!

Jason is spoiling me left and right.  Thursday night I had talked about going to our favorite ice cream place for some pumpkin gingersnap ice cream, but we didn't have enough time.  That didn't stop him from stopping on his way home from work on Friday to get me this yummy treat.

My dad and Vivian came to visit this weekend and I managed to get a bit of documentation!

mechanicsville miler

Each year, Bryce's school has a 5k fundraiser called the Mechanicsville Miler.  We have sat out on the driveway in the past and cheered on the runners as they pass.  This year we were excited to be a part of the events.  We watched all the runners come by before heading to the school for Bryce to run the 100 yard dash.  This year the miler (Run for Renee) had a special meaning as the school celebrated the life of one of their first grade teachers (our friend Renee) who passed away this summer.

Bryce ran the 100 yard dash which was broken into grade levels so he only competed against kindergarteners!  He was excited to run with a few of his friends from class.

Go Bryce, go!

He came in second place.  He was neck and neck with a girl until the very end, but he kicked it into gear because he couldn't let a girl beat him!

Cousin Sarah who is also in Bryce's class did the 5k and we met up with her after the race.  The sun was bright, ha!

We stopped at the Kona ice truck on the way home and the kids enjoyed making their own treat!

We're having lots of fun getting involved at Bryce's school and getting to know the people in our community even more!

apple pickin' 2014

I enjoy apple picking every fall, but our normal spot has become so touristy and busy that it just takes the fun out of it for me.  I had decided we'd just skip apple picking this year.  Of course, we all wanted to go, so we found a new spot and it did not disappoint!

It was an overcast day, following a weekend of rain, but we still had a great time.

Emmy enjoyed the puddles left behind from the rain.

There were tons of apples at the kids' level.

They were picking granny smith and Fuji.  Those are the only kinds we like so it worked out perfectly they had both.

There may have been plenty of low apples, but it's still fun to pick from the top.

My sweet boy!

Us

Nana and her babies.

We can say we go apple picking for the apples, but the real reason is the treat afterwards, ha!

We were concerned they wouldn't have our favorite apple cider donuts like the other orchard, but they did!  They even had dundaes (donut sundaes).

We invited Nana and Pap along for the trip and we all had a great time.
