baseball

Softball and baseball seem to be our life outside of work and church.

Bryce has practice 2-3 times a week and tournaments every few weekends and Emmy has games 2-3 times a week so the ball field seems to be our second home.  But we love watching them play and grow in their sports.

It's been a rainy season and many of Bryce's tournaments have been cancelled, but we finally had a sunny day to play.

The boys won their first two games and went on to the championship where they came up second after a hard fight!

This team has grown so much since they started playing together.  We love the families and players.

The "Swing for the Ring" tournament brought home a little bling for our baller!

softball

Emmy is enjoying playing softball this season.  I think she looks so grown up in this picture!

She also loves that Jason is the coach!

All of the girls love to wear the catcher's gear.

First base and pitcher are favorites too!  She's getting better each week and recently she made some great plays at third base.

The girls won their first (and only) game of the season this night.  They were excited.  They are learning so much and getting better each week, but the teams we play are out there to win and their coaches don't necessarily give all their girls fair and equal play.  It's kind of sad, but I'm happy that Jason is out there to teach our girls the game and give them experience at all the positions.

The games have been keeping us busy and we're finding ourselves eating dinner in the car 1-2 nights a week on the way to softball, but the kids don't complain!

Emmy even told the dentist the other day that she likes softball better than gymnastics.

a littel of this and that

We made a trip to Krispy Kreme for another round of free donuts for good report cards!

Emmy is still at an age to do egg hunts with her class.  I enjoyed spending a little time with her during the school day.

She has the sweetest little friends.

Emmy and I got out for a little girl time on Friday while the boys went fishing.

We headed to our first Squirrels game tonight.

They didn't win, but we were happy for the game to end because we were waiting for fireworks!

pre Easter festivities

Our county didn't schedule spring break with Easter this year so it feels like we've celebrated Easter multiple times now.

Saturday was our church's egg hunt.  It had to be moved inside due to rain.  It didn't take long to find 5,000 eggs scattered throughout the church.

The kids' Easter musical was today.  They have been working on it since the beginning of the year and they all did such a great job.

They both had a few speaking parts and they each had a solo.  I was so proud of them!

The show was called Mr. Pigg's BBQ Emporium.  Coincidently, we have a church member named Page Pigg.  Of course he was the perfect choice for the main character.

Bryce's class has been writing a pen pal at a local retirement home throughout the year.  They went on a field trip to meet their pen pals and we've tried to keep in touch with Bryce's, Ms. Edith.  We picked her up and brought her to church today so she could see Bryce perform.  She was delighted.

We finished the weekend dyeing eggs.

This Egg-mazing is awesome and I may never dye an egg in vinegar again.

Happy almost Easter!

spring break day 5 and 6

Friday was a dreary day so we hung at home most of the day and then went roller skating in the afternoon.  When the public skate is over, they do sock races and our kids are obsessed.  They wore their gripper socks and both pulled out a first place win in the age groups!

Emmy won first and Bryce was not going to be outdone!

Nana came over tonight for pizza and we had a basketball party to watch Auburn in the final four.  Emmy had them going all the way in her bracket and since Pap is an Auburn alum, we were all rooting for them.  We were bummed they came up short, but we enjoyed some yummy food!

spring break day 4

Jason took off today so we had a family fun day.  We headed to Yorktown to bring history to life for Bryce.  We go to Yorktown beach every summer, but we never go to the historical areas, but it was a must since he learned about it in school this year.

When we were done at the museum we took a trolley ride around town.  It's such a cute and fun little town.

We headed to our favorite BBQ joint for lunch and then we went to a ropes course.  This was a first for all of us and it was so fun.

The kids were pros and they weren't scared at all.

They have a higher and longer course that Bryce can do when he's just a little taller.

This was such a fun family thing to do.

We headed to a new frozen custard spot in Williamsburg before heading home!
