1st week of summer recap

The first week of summer vacation was cool and rainy but it went by in a blink!

Bryce and his buddies played golf on Monday and Emmy and I ran errands.  I took the cousins to Kings Dominion on Tuesday.  Emmy had a friend over on Wednesday while Bryce and her friend's brother went to a money/career class.  We were limited on entertainment options because of the rain, but I think they had a great day decorating cookies to get us in the mood for summer when it finally arrives!

I always have to decorate a few too!

Jason's birthday was on Thursday.  He got a Blackstone for Father's Day and couldn't wait to test it out.  He got all the accessories for his birthday, so he was ready to cook all of his meals (in the rain) on his special day, ha!

We had breakfast on the blackstone, went bowling, grilled hibachi for dinner and then had family over for cake and ice cream.

We test drove new cars on Friday and I helped throw a surprise 40th birthday party for a friend on Saturday.

The rain finally broke for a bit today and we made it to the pool.

The summer heat has finally arrived.  Hopefully we'll get a little more sunshine to go with it!

school is OUT

The last week of school was a busy one.  Monday we were all at school for Emmy's 5th grade fun day.  I went to school on Tuesday for a school wide perfect attendance ceremony.  There were only 16 kids in the whole school who earned perfect attendance this school year and Emmy was one of them!  The local Kiwanis Club donated 4 bikes to be raffled off as well as Sweet Frog gift cards for each student.  Emmy didn't win a bike, but she does love some Sweet Frog!

Bryce didn't have any classes on Tuesday and Emmy got out early so MeMa took them and Chase and Taylor to the river for the afternoon.

Bryce is ready to go back every day!

Wednesday was 5th grade graduation!

Emmy looked so pretty in her dress and Kendra Scott necklace she got as a graduation gift.

We put together slide shows for each class to play during the ceremonies.

The art teacher helped the students paint this mural to leave behind as their legacy project.

I spent Tuesday afternoon putting up this backdrop for the students to use for pictures after graduation.

Her biggest fans came to support her.

These three have been friends since kindergarten.

She couldn't wait to cash in on that Sweet Frog gift card after school on Wednesday.

Thursday was FINALLY the last day of school.

From the first day of kindergarten to the last day of elementary school!

Out of the whole week, Bryce only had to go to school for the last block on the last day.

From the first day of middle school to the last day of middle school.

I was so excited to be able to get a picture of Emmy and all of her teachers through elementary school.  Her kindergarten teacher retired the year she was in kindergarten, so I was so glad I was able to get her to come for the last day for this picture!

ADIOS, elementary school.

I enjoyed spoiling the kiddos with some graduation treats after school.

It's been a great year and it's so hard to believe we're done with elementary school, and we'll have one in high school.  Bryce will be an Atlee Raider next year and Emmy will be a Grace Christian King.

We wrapped up the week/end with a baseball tournament in Charlottesville on the UVA baseball field.

We're Hokie fans, but we could appreciate the magnitude of this opportunity!

We're excited for a fun summer!

end of school fun

Emmy went on a chorus field trip to sing at an adult day center.

They wore red, white and blue and sang patriotic songs.

Bryce had 8th grade fun day to wrap up his middle school days.

I can't believe he'll be in high school next year!  2027 will be here before we know it.

Bryce and Thomas - friends since preschool.

8th grade day was full of inflatables, games, and friends.

Fun day wrapped up with a Hawaiian themed 8th grade dance.

A group of guys went to dinner beforehand and then they "danced" the night away.

Emmy had a friend over on Saturday and they enjoyed a game of putt putt.

Turning the air track into a slip 'n slide is always fun!

Today was Emmy's 5th grade fun day!

They started the day with a class competition of tug of war.  Then they moved on to yard games, water squirters, an ice cream truck, an inflatable and lunch.

Emmy sure will miss these friends when she heads to a different middle school than them.

Myself and two other moms were in charge of 5th grade fun day.  I think we did a great job!  Emmy had fun and Bryce was a big help!  Nana came to watch and help too!

Emmy's 5th grade class.

The 5th grade!

3 more days of school and then we'll have a middle schooler and a high schooler, wow!

Sunday, June 4, 2023

hello, june!

We went to a cookout on Memorial Day and then we had s'mores around the fire at home.

Love these two!

We went to Bryce's 8th grade awards ceremony on Thursday.

He received a certificate and a plaque for achieving Principal's List (straight A's) for all three years of middle school.  This means he NEVER got a B on his report card in middle school.

44 students in his class received this honor.  So amazing!

Emmy was supposed to sing the National Anthem at the Squirrels game with All County Chorus this week but they ended up scheduling someone else.  We had already gotten tickets so we still enjoyed a night at the Diamond.

Dippin' Dots for the win!

Friday was national donut day!

Bryce had a baseball tournament this weekend and his team went 2-0 on Saturday.

For the first time in all their years of baseball, Bryce and Chase got to play each other.  Their teams played on Satuday and there wasn't much action, but they were matched up again today for a fun time.  Bryce faced Chase for one at bat and almost went yard for a grand slam but was just a little short.  So close, but what a great memory for these two!

We've got 9 more school days and we're oh so ready for summer break!
