a low key week

We have fallen into a routine in July.  Emmy has gymnastics three mornings a week so while she's there Bryce and I hang out at home and then hit the bowling alley before picking her up.  Emmy and I spend the evenings together since Bryce has baseball three evenings a week.

It was a bit cooler and less humid on Thursday so we went for a trail walk after gymnastics.

Emmy and I have been counting down the days until the Olympics (gymnastics specifically) so we were excited when it started.

We were out and about on Saturday morning so we decided to head to the city to check out the canal walk.  We've biked parts of it before, but there were parts to walk that we hadn't seen.

Jason and I had a date night on Saturday night.  It's been a long time!  We enjoyed dinner on the rooftop, walked around the VCU campus and reminisced about our college days, and then got dessert before heading home.

Our church is doing an "at the movies" sermon series so they rented out a cute little local theater to show the movie "Up"!  It was a fun time.

I'm looking forward to my birthday this week to wrap up July and then our August gets busy!

a typical summer week

Emmy stocked up on some summer reading while Bryce was at baseball practice on Monday.

Tuesday we headed to Kings Dominion with the Caddells!

It was a nice hot day for the water park!

We always end a trip to Kings Dominion with Rita's.

Bryce doesn't have baseball on Wednesday nights so we went to watch the Squirrels play baseball.

Jason was off on Friday so we went to Westmoreland State Park to hunt for sharks teeth.

Emmy was excited to finally find a tooth on this trip!  It was teeny tiny!

Everyone found at least one!

There were lots of tiny teeth this time.

Sunday was national ice cream day so of course we had to indulge!

4th of july and baseball

We got all dolled up in our patriotic best for church/4th of July last Sunday.

We weren't able to celebrate with the Shipleys last year due to covid but this year we brought back our annual 4th of July tradition.

Jason put on a great fireworks display this year!

Bryce's team started off the season strong, but had fallen flat for a while.  They were excited to win the championship yesterday.  They went 3-0, scoring 38 runs and only giving up 2!

The kids think Jason is the coolest.  Meanwhile I'm wondering when he's going to go back to "normal".  Haha!  I realize, normal and Jason don't go together, but back to his old look would be nice!

His 12U season is winding down and he will soon be on the big field in 13U!

sandbridge 2021

We had a wonderful family vacation in Sandbridge this week!  Our days/week can be summed up with breakfast, beach, lunch, pool, dinner and more beach.

We made our way out to the beach the first night!

Twinning

He had some fishing success..

My beach babes.

Our house (we've stayed here before) overlooks a canal and I could have sat there and read all week long.

It rained must of the last day, but the sun came out at the end of the day and we chased it!  A perfect sunset to end a perfect week!
