bryce is 14

Bryce turned 14 on Saturday!  How can we have been parents for FOURTEEN years?!?

Height: 60 1/4 inches - FINALLY hit 5 feet!!  He grew 3 inches! 10th percentile
Weight: 102.5lbs - He gained 21 pounds in a year!  30th percentile

We had a quick donut breakfast celebration in the morning.

We opened presents after breakfast.

Bryce has really gotten into chess so Emmy wanted to get him a real chess set so we could all play him rather than him always playing random people on his phone.  Now we just have to learn how to play, ha!

Bryce had a big day planned with a few of his baseball buddies, so we dropped him off after the morning festivities and sent him on his way and we went on our way to celebrate alone!  Boo!

I guess snowboarding with friends is better than a day at home with mom and dad, ha!

Emmy had school on her birthday.  We had a family party, but she didn't really have an outing to celebrate so we took her rock climbing while Bryce was snowboarding.  She loves it and she's so good at it!

We hosted the youth group at our house tonight, so I made cupcakes for dessert and had everyone to sing to Bryce.  It was like a mini birthday party!

We'll celebrate with family later this week!

valentines day and excalibur

Spreading a little love on Valentine's Day.

Heart shaped waffles for breakfast and a few treats.

Sent Emmy with a themed lunch.

Bryce made a special delivery to his Valentine before school.

I had a heart in my dinner!

We traveled to Virginia Beach on Friday for the Excalibur meet.

Emmy missed her last meet because she was sick.  She couldn't wait to get back out there and compete.  She took home 3rd place for the floor and bars and scored her highest bar score of the season.

This is a great group of girls!

My favorite gymnast!

Emmy is 11

Went to bed a 10 year old....

and woke up 11 (out of fingers for counting her age).

Themed potato chips because I couldn't resist.

A cookie for her birthday breakfast.

Jason and I brought her lunch to school.

Emmy had gymnastics on her birthday and really wanted to go to celebrate with her friends, so I made cookies for the team to enjoy during their break.

MeMa surprised her with a fun yard greeting!

We celebrated her birthday with family on Tuesday night since it was a night off from the gym.  She wanted an ice cream and cookie dough cake.  It was actually pretty simple to make and it was delicious.

Height: 53 inches (almost made it to the 10th percentile)
Weight: 61 pounds (barely into the 5th percentile)

I was able to go out for a mid week pick me up with some friends on Wednesday.  We didn't realize it was trivia night but we were excited to stay and participate.  And we won 1st place.

hello, february

Emmy will be in middle school next year!  Instead of going to our assigned middle school, she will be going to a private Christain school that meets at our church.  Her cousins and a few friends go there as well and she is excited to attend.  She did a shadow day this week with a 6th grade friend from church!

Emmy was chosen to be a safety patrol at her school for the second semester.

Bryce was inducted into the Junior Beta Club this week for his outstanding grades in middle school.

Love a festive cookie!

A few of his classmates who were also inducted.

PaPa's funeral was on Saturday and these cousins participated in a big way.  They each said their favorite "PaPa-ism" and Chase and Bryce told a couple of stories.  They loved PaPa so much and we're so thankful for all of the happy memories they have of him.  The service was beautiful and such an amazing tribute to Charles and the outpouring of people was amazing.

They're so lucky to have each other during this time and always.

We're just not complete without PaPa.

Jason's family's longtime friends the Comps came into town for the funeral and it was so nice to visit with all of them.  The "kids" were able to get together for one last meal today before they headed out of town.  We missed their spouses, but it was so good to see everyone.

After church we had a chance to write scripture on the framing of the new building where Emmy will be going to school next year.  It's a very exciting time for Grace Christian School.

Next week is birthday week for Emmy!
