mommy & me

We headed to a mommy and me event today at a local outdoor mall.  The event was inside today because of the unpredictable weather.  We met Bryce's friend Thomas there and the kids had a great time dancing to the music after they made their crafts.

Emmy loves music and loves to clap along and dance.

Bryce did a little dancing, but he's definitely shy like his mama.

When the event was over, we headed outside to play since it wasn't raining.

The train you could sit in seemed to be the favorite today.

We got lunch at Qdoba afterwards since the kids got a coupon for a free kids meal.  I am loving staying home with the kids and getting out during the day with them and friends.  And a big thanks to Thomas' mom for the pictures from today.

field trip

Bryce's class doesn't have an organized class field trip until next year, but the room mom for his class really wanted to get the kids together for their own field trip, so the moms and kids met up at Maymont yesterday for a fun day.  Here are 5 of the 7 kids (one of the girls in his class wasn't able to make it and another girl caught up with us later in the day).

Emmy loved looking at the animals.  She said "baa" to all the animals. I was finally able to teach her to say "maa" for goat before we left.

My brave little boy feeding the goats out of his hand.  He used to be too terrified to even hold the cup up for them to eat out of!

Jumping the rocks in the Japanese Gardens.

After our picnic lunch we tried to recreate some of our pictures since one of the other girls joined us.

They loved seeing the animals but they are kids at heart and still needed something to play on.

It was cloudy and overcast, but it turned out to be perfect.  The walk back up to the barn (with a stroller full of stuff) is quite an uphill hike so the cool weather was nice.  Thanks Ms. Barbara for planning such a fun trip and putting so much effort into making things special for the kids.  Bryce loved it!

Emmy at 15 months

Stats
Height: 29 1/4 inches (10th-25th percentile)
Weight: 18 pounds 13 ounces (3rd percentile)

What are you up to this month?

You have a few more words and some more animal sounds.

You LOVE to eat and you're not a picky eater.  How you're still so tiny baffles me!

You're still such a happy girl.

You really like farm animals.  You could watch them all day.

You REALLY love your Daddy.  Your face lights up when you see him and you always want him to hold you when he gets home.  I think it's funny that Bryce is 4 and he still says DaDa, but you've already started calling him Daddy.

You're a great sleeper at night, but still hit or miss with naps.  You're morning and afternoon naps are not consistent, but I still feel like you need that morning nap.

You're getting quite a few more teeth right now.  I think you have 4 bottom teeth coming in (including molars) and you're such a good sport about it.

You are obsessed with tissues.  I think you could entertain yourself all day with a box of tissues.  You probably get 5-10 tissues out a day and wipe your nose.  You always make a sniffling sound and smoosh up your mouth and nose and then wipe your nose.  SO cute!

You love your paci.  When you wake up I always have you put your paci back in your bed.  However, you always find the paci in the diaper bag and get so upset when I take it.

You're full of energy and love to explore, but you're also good at playing independently for a good amount of time.

You LOVE shoes!!  You're always bringing me a pair of your shoes to put on you.

You are such a precious little girl and we love you more and more each day!

baseball

We headed out to a baseball game today for a birthday party and to watch Jason's dad throw out the first pitch.  We couldn't pass up a picture with a ginormous inflatable of their mascot, Nutzy!

We got there early enough to go out on the field and throw some baseballs.

Bryce loved it.  (Don't mind the kid in the background.  #photobomb)

I missed him totally laid out in the field.....his favorite way to play baseball.

The kids in their Flying Squirrels gear.

Nutzy

Papa won a chance to throw out the first pitch at a silent auction when we were at Bryce's t-ball opening day.
The kids got to stand on the field and watch.

Emmy finally gave in to a nap!

Bryce and his new foam finger (on the wrong hand).

Bryce was working those face muscles to open his mouth wide enough for the cotton candy.

The blue mouth boys.

Bryce's friend Charlie was celebrating his 4th birthday at the game today!

saturday fun

We had a wonderful family day today.  We started off at Krispy Kreme for donuts.  I think it took at least twenty minutes for Emmy to eat her donut!

This boy loves a sprinkle donut.

The elementary school behind our house was having a spring fling today so we put the kids in the wagon and walked over.  They had a small petting zoo with the cutest little animals.  Bryce didn't mind petting the rabbits because they were the only calm ones.

Emmy even pet the rabbit.

Brushing the goat.

After Bryce's t-ball game we headed to Relay for Life.  Emmy made herself at home as soon as we got there.

The big kids enjoyed watching the opening ceremony.

Bryce remembered a picture from the track last year and wanted to make sure we got a picture of all the grand kids on a number (we did birth order).  Maybe next year Emmy will have perfected standing still for more than two seconds!

Do you see what the kids are wearing?  Winter clothes.  It's May 4th.  Where are you spring?

a mixture of random

I found this picture of Emmy on my camera and it just cracks me up!  One day she was eating goldfish and decided she needed to be like Macy and eat off the floor.  Can you see Macy's food by her bowl?  Emmy took her handful of goldfish, put them on the floor, and ate them one at a time.  Silly girl (a little dirt won't hurt!).

We went to Chase's soccer game last Saturday and Bryce enjoyed playing on the empty field behind us.  He says he's still not interested in playing soccer on a team again!

It's not as intimidating to him when he plays against Jason!

Jason finally shaved last Friday!  I had actually gotten used to him with the beard so he looked different at first.  I couldn't decide if it made him look older or younger, ha!

My mom and I went flower shopping the other day.  She was getting some hanging baskets and I got some geraniums for my front porch.

I had been wanting these planters for so long and was excited to get them for Christmas.  I was even more excited to put some flowers in them.  I just love the bright pink!

Emmy enjoys playing the piano. I think we'd all enjoy her playing the piano if we each had a set of headphones, just kidding!

This boy is growing up too fast!

Happy Thursday!

MAY-be I'll be a better blogger this month

Typically on Wednesday nights, our small group meets at church while our kids have a lesson correlating to our study since we're doing a church-wide study.  Tonight a family from church hosted our group because their property was the perfect setting to help bring the kids' story to life.

First we enjoyed a yummy picnic dinner with the families.

I think Emmy ate the entire time we were there.

The kids enjoyed playing some baseball after dinner.

The adults enjoyed some fellowship while the kids played.

The scenery was just amazing.  This fire pit was SO nice.  It kept us nice and warm since the spring weather hasn't quite made its way here to stay.

Can you imagine sitting on your patio and having this view?!

The new barn in the back was like a mansion in pristine condition.

The kids learned about Ruth and Naomi gathering food so we headed out to the field to gather barley.  Nothing like an object lesson to bring it home!  I just love our small group.  Between us we have 8 kids who I hope will grow up to be the best of friends.  I really love doing life with this group of people.  And as an added bonus, Jason's parents are their teachers on Wednesday nights!
