a great night for baseball

My personal photographer came to cheer Bryce on at his game last night so I actually have proof that he does play baseball.  Thanks, Barbara!

Bryce loves that Jason is the coach.

Speedy

If you look close enough, you can see his tongue sticking out.  He gets that from his daddy!

So focused!

Waiting for coach Jason to tell them where they'll be playing.

Bryce was excited that Thomas came to watch.

Emmy enjoys baseball too.

Thanks again for the pictures, Barbara!

life lately

Saturday was opening day of baseball for Bryce.  We were up and at the field early for pictures at 8:00 that morning.  We didn't have breakfast beforehand so we headed to the bakery after pictures.

After donuts, we were back at the field for opening day ceremonies.  One of Bryce's classmates plays softball and they ran into each other and had quite a good time.  Bryce was chasing her in an attempt to get his hat back.  Oh, young love!

Naturally, I didn't take any pictures of his first game, but that followed the opening ceremonies.  After baseball, we came home and worked in the yard and then put together an impromptu cookout with our neighbors.  We had camping food leftover so we got a fire in the fire pit going and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows.  Emmy took these pictures!

Fun times with this one!

The kids let us sleep in on Sunday morning, but I still managed to get up and dressed in time to check out Lilly at Target.  I should have known it would have been a mini black Friday, but I had no clue.  I got there about 15 minutes after the store opened to find that most everything was gone.  I was able to snag this cute piece for Emmy though!

My MOPs group had a Moms Night Out at Spirited Art on Monday night.  I was excited to finally do a monogram painting.  All of the girls in my group decided that 3 letters was too much work and we all went with just one, ha!  As simple as the painting looked, it was actually kind of difficult, mostly because I'm not good at straight line!

I had intended for my colors to be navy and coral.  It's more like black and red.  Not only am I not a painter, I'm not a color mixer!  Oh well, I had already decided to put it in my bedroom closet so at least no on will see it but me and Jason!

Jason's cousin's kids come over before school in the mornings and I've been keeping them busy doing perler fuse beads.  Even Emmy loves it and it's great for fine motor development.

My Nanny loves a frosty from Wendy's and some little lady has followed in that love.  She convinced Nana to take her to get one yesterday.  Nanny got one too!

Happy hump day!

Your Every Day Princess

My good friend, Barbara, has been hard at work this past year getting her Etsy shop up and running.  If you have a little girl who loves princesses, then you'll love her work.

Emmy and some friends got the opportunity a few weeks ago to model the dresses so Barbara could update the photos in her shop.

Take a look here at a few of her pieces.

Check out her site to see all the princesses she is capable of as well as other fun designs.

famous in a small town

Last night we were lucky enough to be invited to an event in support of our current Commonwealth's Attorney, Trip Chalkley, who is seeking re-election.  I don't know Trip personally, but my brother-in-law, Dave, used to work with him.  I do, however know his wonderful wife, Stephanie.  She was my long term sub while I was on maternity leave with Bryce and she is AMAZING!!

Dave was very generous to bring us along for the event.

I do love an excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a night out with my hubby!

I saw quite a few people I knew and I was thrilled to visit with my teaching bestie, Donna.

The event was held at the beautiful home of former delegate, John Cox.  His home is so nice it has a name, "Norwood".  We even got souvenir cups with a sketch of the house!

My picture is a little blurry because I was trying to be sneaky while capturing this picture as we walked in.  I felt like I was in a scene out of Sweet Home Alabama!  Something about that banner over the balcony seemed so southern to me!

Whoever named the signature drink did a great job.  I love a play on words and this one was perfect!

I was so undecided about what to wear to the event and decided the original dress I had bought was too casual so I went out at the last minute after getting a pedicure and found this fun dress at Dress Barn.  This isn't typically a place I shop, but it was close by, and I got tons of compliments on it!!

If you're a resident of Hanover, please make an effort to go out and vote to re-elect Trip Chalkley on June 9.

happy 50th scott

Our neighbor/friend turned 50 today!

Last night we set out on operation "happy forkin' fiftieth".  It was quite a success and we probably would have been caught if it weren't for our stealthy fearless leader in camo, ha!  Good times, good times!

Tonight we went out for a fun dinner to celebrate.

I'm so glad to call these girls neighbors and friends!

Don't all of your birthday celebrations end on lawnmowers at Lowe's?!?  Love you girls!

super sunday

Jason's family had planned to go to a baseball game after church on Sunday, but after our marathon baseball game on Saturday night, Jason and I were not looking forward to it.  The kids ended up going with them and we were able to go out to brunch after church.  It was glorious!  Then we went home and worked in the yard and cleaned.

The kids participated in the Healthy Kids Running series in the fall and loved it so we decided to sign then up this spring.  It started Sunday and the weather was perfect for running.  Here's Emmy doing a little warm up.

Running buddies (until they start).
It's hard to keep up with the tallest and oldest kid in the pack!

I went to talk to Bryce while his group was waiting to run and realized there were four kids from his class there!

These two running buddies finished together!

Bryce did great and ran his little heart out!  Look at that face!

We started a Sunday night running tradition in the fall of going out for Mexican after the race.  This week was Jason's cousin's daughter's birthday so we went to Stevi B's for a little pizza party instead.

It was a wonderful day and a great way to wind down spring break!

a night of baseball

Jason's company had a night out at the Diamond to watch baseball on Saturday night so once we got home and settled from camping, we went back out for some baseball.  It was a great night for baseball.

Since we were there with his company, we got some really great and free seats, money for snacks, and it was a fireworks night!

Our neighbors were at the game too so we spent some time up in their seats!

Bryce was wearing his Nutzy gear and since he's not afraid of him anymore, he got him to autograph his hat!

Famous!

We have been to games before when they were scheduled to have fireworks, but we've never stayed.  We promised the kids we'd stay this time.  The game was tied at the end of the 9th inning so we stayed and waited it out until the 14th inning that ended at midnight which was then too late to do fireworks.  What a total waste.  Emmy didn't seem to mind though!

I told the kids that I reached my baseball quota for the season and I will not be attending anymore games this year.  They went to another game with MeMa and PaPa again on Sunday after church, but Jason and I stayed home and got some work done!
