wordless Wednesday on Thursday....because I was too lazy last night

rainy day

The weather people have been forecasting a big snow for today for the past week.  Turns out it was really just a cold rain, but we got out of school anyway!  Bryce is just as happy about a snow day as I am!

Since school is all I really know during the day, we got right to work this morning. 

We worked on numbers and counting for a little while then colored some.

We started this art project over the summer, but Bryce was a little too young for it.  I tried to get him to finger paint, but he didn't really get it and I ended up helping him more than I wanted to.  

 

I guess Bryce thought we were doing body paint instead.  He was an absolute mess afterwards. 

I pulled the canvas out again today and we were able to finish it.  I got smart this time and decided to use paint brushes and save finger painting for later.  He really enjoyed working on this.  I can't wait to hang it in the playroom.

I told him he could finger paint if he wanted to, but he wasn't really interested.  He must have remebered how upset I got last time, ha! 

He couldn't go on until we washed his hands.

After we painted, we made some green rice krispie treats to round out our hands on learning for the day.  We did venture out to the vet to get Macy a refill of heart worm medicine, but that trip took all of 10 minutes.  We've just been hanging around the house enjoying each other's company.  I love days like this, but I also dislike them because it reminds me how much I miss out on each day. 

hair washing

Bryce developed a severe hatred for hair washing recently.  He has never been that fond of having his hair washed, but he always tolerated it.  The past few times we have washed his hair he has had an absolute meltdown (to the point of trying to climb out of the tub to avoid water being poured over his head).



As of tonight, I think we have turned over a new leaf.  Not a tear was shed during the hair washing process.

hand me downs

Not only do I love hand me downs because they save us money, but they also provide us with entertainment.  Bryce enjoyed going through a box of Chase's old clothes with me this morning.  He found the choo choo onesie right away.  He loves choo choos, but hates onesie snaps.  However, when you pair a choo choo with anything, Bryce loves it.  We also found these gingerbread pajama pants and a hat and mittens.

We woke up to snow again this morning so we headed out to play.  Bryce insisted on using his fishing pole in the snow!

It's probably safe to say that I am the world's worst snowman builder.



Amazingly enough, Bryce never knocked it over.  He just threw a ton of snow on top!

ridin' bikes

Bryce has been enjoying riding his bike around the downstairs, but he has been talking nonstop about riding bikes outside with Chase.  Everyday I hear, "Chase and I ride bikes todeder (together), Mama?"  Jason was off today so he was able to coordinate a play date so the boys could ride bikes together.  



 I love that we have so much space to play and ride bikes outside in a fenced in area.

Taylor joined in on the bike riding fun, too.

new boots

Check out these new boots Jason bought me today.  Are these not the cutest things you've ever seen?!  I got some really fun rain boots last year when we got a lot of snow, but they are not insulated and they don't get the job done in the snow.  While Jason was perusing his favorite store (Bass Pro Shop) he stumbled onto these babies!  My feet will freeze no more.  These boots are rated for minus 40 degrees!!  There is snow in the forecast for Tuesday and I'm ready!

It's a good thing blogging more was not a resolution for me this year because I would have already failed miserably.  I don't even remember the last time I took a picture of Bryce.  I found a few pictures on the diaper bag camera so I decided to upload them so everyone could get their Bryce fix for the day!  Bryce really enjoyed Pap's new tool box.

Bryce and Chase got glow bracelets the other night at MeMaw's house so they could go out on the deck to look for deer.  Bryce wasn't a big fan of being out there. 

We got a new toy box this weekend that doubles for more seating for guests and an ottoman for me since our sofas downstairs don't have recliners.  Bryce would rather play in the toy box than with the new toys!

We had a bit of a plumbing issue tonight.  Once Jason got home, he and Bryce got right to work on the kitchen sink.  Bryce got his tool box ready while DaDa changed out of his work clothes.

It's good to learn a trade early in life!

Rubber gloves are also necessary for a little plumbing work.

  

Bryce could have cared less about the actual plumbing work.  He was just as satisfied to work on the child safety locks on the cabinet doors, ha!

new year's eve and 2010 recap

We went to the Botanical Gardens to see the Garden Fest of Lights tonight. We had hoped to go before Christmas, but we were so busy the weeks leading up to my break and then it snowed and was so cold. Tonight was a perfect night because the temperature got into the 50's today so it wasn't too cold tonight.

Jason was our photographer tonight. We're are still trying to attempt to understand all the settings on the camera and how to take a good picture! The lights to the left are laid out on the lawn to look like a peacock.

We went through a light maze. Bryce really enjoyed it.

Of course Bryce's favorite part of the evening was the train room. We had told him there would be trains there and he was so excited. All he could talk about were the trains going through the tunnels!

After looking at the lights, we went to Cold Stone Creamery for one more taste of their dark chocolate peppermint ice cream before it's gone for the season. So delish!

As 2010 comes to an end, I can definitely say it was an emotional year. We rode the roller coaster of highs and lows from February to October as we dealt with the sale of our old home, the purchase of our new home and the loss of my grandfather. The events of this past year were not all fun, but we learned a lot about ourselves, our marriage, and our God. He is in control and as long as we remember that, we can make it through any of life's challenges. We're hopeful that 2011 brings much happiness as we continue to make memories in our new home with our sweet boy and puppy dog (couldn't forget her)!
