quarantine week 12

Our last day of school would have been June 11, but quarantine altered that a bit.  This was the first week that neither of the kids had work due so we started a new daily summer work checklist that is much more laid back than the homeschool schedule.  And because of that, we took the day to play at York River State Park.

The first trail we walked took us straight to the beach of course!

After the first trail we walked back to the car for a lunch break and Bryce had a zoom call with his class.  They did a minute to win it field day which was lots of fun.  After lunch we met up with the cousins for a second hike!

The kids went to Chase and Taylor's for a little while on Tuesday and then Emmy had another outdoor boot camp in the afternoon.  I had seen that Drive Shack had reopened so we went on Wednesday.  Top Golf hasn't opened because it's in Richmond and they haven't entered phase 2 yet.  Drive Shack was offering a steal of a deal so we got there early before they got busy and before it got too hot.

This was Emmy's first time at a golf place like this.

Bryce didn't like the scoring as much here as he does at Top Golf.

Emmy wore down after the first hour but the drinks kept her happy!

So did the snacks!

It was a fun family day.

Emmy lost a tooth the night before.  Now she has matching holes on both sides.  Bryce lost a tooth the night before she did.  The tooth fairy has been busy.

I'm not a golfer and this is only the second time I've done this, but I managed to win the first game!

Emmy had an ice cream party with her class on Thursday.

Our local zoo closed for a short time to get set up for drive through visits.  My mom really wanted to go so we went early Friday morning.

There were a few exhibits that we couldn't see, but for the most part, they did a great job adding roads in order to get to most exhibits!

We even saw an ostrich egg on the ground.

Cool stuff!

This little guy was the cutest.

We've enjoyed Jason "working from home".  He's got a pretty flexible schedule so it's been nice, but we sure will miss the adventures when life gets back to normal.

We had lunch out on a patio and then it was our day to go to school to pick up the kids' supplies.  It surely wasn't a typical end to our school year, but memorable none the less.

It was like Christmas morning being reacquainted with all of their things!

And today we went back to church INSIDE.  We've enjoyed our slower Sundays while we had church online, but it's just not the same as being in the building with real live music and people.  Jason helped greet everyone this morning.

We went to Kelly and Dave's tonight so the kids could see Chase and Taylor before they go out of town for a week.

Bryce fought hard and caught a carp for the first time.

We had homemade strawberry ice cream for dessert.

We've got a few fun end of school things this week and then we'll officially be on summer vacation.  It's nice that things are starting to slowly open back up and life is starting to move again.  It would be really hard to fill our summer days if they were as restricted as the last few months.
