crawling and talking

Bryce makes the cutest faces when he is talking. This morning he was crawling around the living room talking away. He seems to talk with his tongue hanging out the side of his mouth. I tried to capture it, but I just got a bunch of goofy grins! I just realized that a month ago tomorrow, I said I would post a video of Bryce crawling. Oops...never did that. Hope these pictures will get the point across.

It's so cute listening to Bryce slap his hands down on the floor as he crawls. He means business!

If that doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will!

playing in the kitchen

Bryce enjoys playing on the kitchen floor while I cook dinner.
As you can see, the exersaucer is sitting in the background. It used to provide great entertainment while I was cooking dinner.....not anymore!

I'm sure Bryce is wishing he could have gotten something to eat or drink out of the bowl and cup.

a weekend getaway

I was very excited to get away for a little relaxation this weekend. Each year we go up to the mountains and pick apples. This year was extra fun because we stayed at a friend's house at Wintergreen. The fun began on Friday night with dinner at The Devil's Backbone. Saturday morning we got up and had breakfast and then set out for a day full of fun!
Every year we manage to pick apples on the hottest fall day of the season. We were very excited to go on a cool crisp fall day this year. However, we quickly learned that a warm September day is a much better day for picking apples. We waited too late this year and this tiny apple was about all we had to show for our apple picking. Bryce enjoyed our find!

We usually borrow an apple picker from Jason's sister because the orchard never has enough. Well we forgot to borrow it this year and unfortunately the only apples worth picking were at the VERY top of the trees. I broke the rules and climbed a tree because I was determined to come back with something. Don't laugh at the nerd in the tree!

Almost there....

My prize!

The girls!

We had to buy this apple since Bryce liked it so much!

Our little worm

Our little family (minus Macy....she had a great time playing with Abi and Ginger)

After we went apple picking, we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise for lunch and then we did some wine tasting at Veritas Vineyard and Winery! We ended our outing with a treat from Starbucks before heading back to the house for chili and football.

you get what you pay for

I have been busy buying Bryce some new fall clothes since the weather is starting to turn cold and the poor child has had to wear the same 3 outfits for a few weeks. I went to Old Navy tonight and I got a few things including this pair of pants with very uneven leg lengths. I love shopping at Old Navy for Bryce's clothes because they are very affordable. I guess every once in a while you get an item that makes you realize why they are so affordable, ha! Guess we will be making an exchange! Too bad I didn't recognize it in the store.

growing up

It's official! This boy is growing up too fast! Bryce was not really interested in taking a nap on Sunday before church. Instead, he figured out how to pull himself up in his crib. We had already adjusted the mattress once before, so we had to put it on the lowest setting this time. He will be in a big boy bed before we know it!

a fall weekend

***Update***
I made yummy Pumpkin Spice muffins for church this morning and they were delicious! Here is the recipe if you are interested. They are actually Weight Watchers friendly and they are very moist.
1 box spice cake mix
1 15oz. can pumpkin
1 cup water
Bake @ 350 for 18-20 minutes
We had a perfect fall weekend!
Bryce had no interest in the pansies and mum, but I couldn't have been happier! My mom came over and helped me plant them (in the rain) on Saturday while Bryce napped. The sidewalk looked great, but we were missing the pumpkins!

Living in rural Hanover, we know a few farmers. Some friends of ours from church sell pumpkins every year and we like to support them so we went and took Bryce for his first pumpkin pickin'. Here he is checking out his "Bryce sized pumpkin".

Bryce seems a bit bored with the experience. He's not really sure what the fuss is all about, ha! And he was kind of tired since Sundays don't provide much of a normal routine for us. As you can see, Macy tagged along, too.

Here he is being a little bit more interactive with his pumpkin. Yes, it went straight to his mouth!

The pumpkins may not be much fun, but the hay sure tastes good!

Thanks to Nana and Pappy, Macy got her own pumpkin, too!

sneak peak

I know it's not Halloween yet, but I had to post a picture of this adorable little boy in his first Halloween costume. Jason picked out this elephant costume at Walmart this weekend and I L-O-V-E it!!!

Please excuse Macy's rear end in this picture, ha! Speaking of Macy, I'm sure you are all wondering what she will be for Halloween. Well, we bought her costume on clearance at the end of Halloween last year, but it's not that great. We saw a squirrel costume that would have been perfect because we think she looks like a squirrel when she sits up, but they didn't have her size. However, I'm really thinking she needs to be a peanut to match this year's elephant theme! I don't even know if that exists. Come back at the end of the month for more adorable elephant pictures and to see what Macy ends up being.

so true

We went shopping for fall clothes for Bryce this weekend and found this cute shirt at Old Navy. We just had to have it, along with the outfit that said, "I got my muscles from Daddy", with a picture of a classic car. Jason really can fix anything from installing dishwashers that were originally kitchen cabinets to electronic earmuffs (don't ask, it's a hunting thing). He refuses to pay someone to fix something that he is sure he can fix. Some things don't always look pretty when he is finished, but they work! Maybe Bryce will take after his handy man/engineer daddy.

a macy post

My mom has been watching Bryce and Macy (ha!) on Wednesday nights while Jason and I teach the middle school youth group. She has been taking the kiddos for a walk since the weather has been so nice in the evenings. She has a soft spot in her heart for a puppy dog and she feels bad for Macy if she has to walk too far! Apparently Macy enjoys riding in the baggage compartment of Bryce's stroller.

Too cute!

I posted a picture of Macy dancing in her shoes before, but I found this picture on my camera and just had to share it!
