It was bound to happen sooner or later. The Whitlocks had our first covid diagnosis and it was me! I must have picked it up in New York. We got home on Tuesday feeling fine, but I woke up with a scratchy throat on Wednesday. I felt ok and continued on as normal. By Thursday I had a cough, headache, sinus pressure and a slight fever. We had some things planned on Friday that would be impacted by illness, so I took my first ever test to verify. Sure enough it was positive. I was super bummed to miss out on a planned girls night on Friday, but my girlfriends swung by with a little pick me up while I had a little pity party. I had to have a little wine for a taste/smell check. Luckily I never lost either. My fever broke overnight Friday. I still had a headache on Saturday but it faded and I felt human by the end of the day. I have continued to lay low today and I'm pretty sure I'm almost back to 100% other than a little cough and scratchy voice.

NYC
Day 1
We drove up to New York and into the city on Saturday. We got there mid afternoon, checked into our hotel, saw a few sights and then took the subway to the Mets game.
Bryce got a ball at batting practice.
This one gets ice cream in a helmet at every baseball game!
Times Square at night.
Day 2
Today was a full day of sights, walking and riding. We started the day at Grand Central Station and took the subway to Battery Park to hop on the ferry for the Statue of Liberty.
Pretty views of the city from the ferry.
So cool!
We took the 195 steps up to the pedestal.
Our next stop was Ground Zero/One World Trade Center
Next we finally sat down for a meal and then did a little shopping.
Our last planned thing for the day was visiting the Empire State Building.
We learned a lot about the construction of the building and the views were spectacular.
We weren't ready to call it a day so we headed to Battery Park for snacks and a little playground time.
Bryce wanted to see the Brooklyn Bridge and wanted to see the skyline at night so we headed toward Brooklyn (on an empty subway, wow).
We had a delicious dinner on the pier with spectacular views of the bridge at night.
After dinner we walked the bridge to see the skyline.
My picture doesn't do the full moon justice.
Such a pretty city!
Day 3
Of course we started our day at Krispy Kreme!
We didn't have any plans until the evening, so we headed to Central Park to walk around and explore.
We found a playground and the kids played on the rocks.
Emmy wanted to go to the Bronx Zoo so we spent the afternoon there. It was a big zoo with lots to see!
Our final planned destination was the Yankees game. This is stadium 16/30 in our quest to visit all of the ballparks!
Another game, another helmet of ice cream.
We had a really great trip. Jason navigated the subway with ease and we were able to see all the things we wanted and more.

annual beach day
We had our annual beach day with the Shipleys today. This was year 10!
It was a hot day and the water wasn't very refreshing, but it was fun as usual!
Love these beach babes of mine.
2013
2022
This friendship began when the boys were in 3 year old preschool together.
Gracie is going off to college this year so we scheduled our trip a little earlier so she could be sure to join us!

19 years
Jason and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary on Tuesday. We decided not to go out to dinner to celebrate since we celebrated all week in Jamaica. Instead, the kids offered to cook dinner. They made their own menu complete with recipes. MeMa took them shopping and helped them prepare the dessert and meat, but they did all the rest.
I love how they named the main course 19th street since it was our 19th anniversary. They also used Trisha Yearwood's meatloaf recipe.
They worked together really well getting it all together.
The nachos were spicy and delicious.
They learned a lot about prepping food and getting everything ready at the same time.
They did a great job and it was very tasty!
They were most excited about sharing dessert with us!
It was nice to spend an evening all together since we had been apart the week before.
We've changed a bit in 19 years!
Just babies!
