We stay so busy with sports and activities during the week that it's hard to get the kids in for appointments so spring break seemed like a good time to mark a few things off the list. Emmy had an eye doctor appointment on Monday morning. She struggled with the eye exam at her well visit so we had her checked out.
She is a bit nearsighted but not enough for the doctor to put her in glasses yet so luckily these were the only glasses she needed this visit!
We had to have some fun on our first day of spring break so we headed to Belle Isle to rock hop after the eye doctor.
Love the city views.
The weather was perfect this week so we tried to be outside whenever we could, even for dinner.
They had the kids' favorite ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Bryce insisted I capture this picture "last day with teeth."
Tuesday was Bryce's day for an appointment. Back in November his dentist had told him he lost his last baby tooth and he was ready for braces. We had a zoom consult with an orthodontist and she said he still had baby teeth to lose. Sure enough, after x-rays in her office, we learned he wasn't actually done with baby teeth. These teeth needed to be pulled because they weren't coming in correctly and they wouldn't be able to push the baby teeth out.
Bryce was not really excited for this appointment, but he was a trooper (look at the size of those things)! He even managed $20 for these last teeth. The tooth fairy must have felt sorry for all he had to go through to "lose" these last two teeth.
We laid low the rest of the day so Bryce could recover.
Bryce was feeling better on Wednesday and it was another beautiful day so we spent the day at the zoo. Emmy and I did a junior ropes course and Bryce and Jason did a zipline course.
Emmy can't wait until she can do the zip line course. We walked around the zoo and saw the animals too.
Thursday was another beautiful day so we hit the Capital Trail for some biking.
It was such a pretty ride through the city and along the river.
We enjoyed lunch outside on the river.
We stayed home on Friday and finished a few projects. Bryce had a friend over and then we met his parents at a fun new pizza place for dinner on the patio. The boys were enjoying their time together so we went back to their house for the kids to play baseball and watch baseball.
We rounded out the weekend with baseball yesterday and today. It was a fun and beautiful week and now we're all ready for summer vacation!
