a boring post

Well folks, my summer vacation is just about over. SO sad. Today was a little taste of what's to come. I had to go to work today for a leadership retreat. It was hard leaving Bryce again, but I know he was in good hands with MeMaw. I am going to try and enjoy every minute of my last few days at home with Bryce. We are going to hang around the house tomorrow and then we are going to spend the day at the lake on Friday. Starting Monday I will be back in full swing and missing my precious boy and summer vacation.

6 months

Our little boy is growing up so fast. 6 months doesn't seem that long, but when you say half a year, it seems much longer. We went to the doctor today for his 6 month check-up and shots. Today was the first time I held him while they gave him his shots. I didn't really enjoy it, but he was a good boy. He screamed as they gave him the shots and then he was all better. Here are his stats: (he's only in the 25 percentile for all 3 - such a petite little boy as the doctor put it)

Weight - 16 1/2 pounds
Height - 25 3/4 inches
Head - 16 7/8 inches

Bryce is changing every day. Here is a 6 month update as to what he is up to these days:
  • He wears size 3 diapers
  • He wears 6-9 months clothes
  • He has been rolling to his right forever, but he just started rolling to his left TODAY!
  • He has started cooing more
  • He loves to laugh when Jason tickles his knees
  • He is doing great at sitting up
  • He has started pulling himself up to a standing position
  • He LOVES rice cereal
  • He is NOT such a great sleeper anymore. He goes to bed great, but just can't stay asleep all night.
  • I'm sure there is a ton more things, but that's all I've got tonight!
The doctor gave us the okay to start foods today. She suggested green beans so that is just what we did. As you can see, Bryce wishes we had started with something else. ha! He actually ate the first few bites without any expression. It wasn't until about the 5th bite that he realized he didn't like it so much. I had to follow up with rice cereal to help get the yucky taste out of his mouth. The doctor suggested veggies first, but I'm thinking fruit will have a better response!

The pictures didn't quite capture just how much Bryce hated the green beans (even though you can obviously tell he doesn't like them since he is spitting them out) so we gave him a few more so we could video tape the experience. Now that is something to laugh at. Another great video for the blog hop. ha!

Blog Hop - Time to Laugh

Bryce does many things that make us laugh, but I thought I would feature Macy in this weeks blog hop. We LOVE dressing Macy up in clothes and costumes and even shoes. We bought Macy a pair of dog shoes which Jason refers to as doggy Air Jordan's. We cracked up when we put Macy in the shoes because she danced around so crazily. We were recently watching America's Funniest Home Videos and there was a video of a dog walking in shoes. We thought it was hysterical because we had seen Macy perform the same way in her shoes. It prompted us to make our own video of Macy in her shoes. Which brings us to this weeks blog hop. I hope this video makes you laugh.

We had a great vacation, but it sure is nice to be home! Here are some pictures we took tonight with Bryce in his NEW high chair. Such a big boy.

beach day 6

Today was our last day on the beach. So sad! Bryce and I were both tired of the hassle of putting on his bathing suit and swim shirt so we decided he would just swim in his swim diaper today! I put lots of sunscreen on him, he was under the umbrella, and it was 4 o'clock in the afternoon so he was well protected. Here are just a few pictures of our day today.

beach day 5

We had another great day at the beach!
Bryce got a little warm on the beach this afternoon and he told MeMaw that he needed some of her slushie to cool him off.

She gave in to his demands!

It took quite a bit more before he was satisfied!

Jason or I have been taking a bath with Bryce in the big tub, but last night we had already showered by the time he needed a bath so we washed him in the kitchen sink.

He enjoyed the bath, but it is SO much easier to bathe him in his bathtub with the hammock.

beach day 4

What a difference a day makes! Bryce had a great night sleep in the pack n' play last night which means I had a great night sleep in the bed. I can also say that Bryce has nursed me back to health, literally. We all felt great today so we headed down to the beach for the morning. Check out the fun we had.

Those boys are just TOO cute

Bryce loves to cross his legs when he is relaxing

It's hard to see, but Bryce is picking up a handful of sand. And yes, it went straight to his mouth. HA!

beach day 3

We had really hoped that as the week went on, Bryce would get adjusted to being on vacation. Last night we borrowed Kelly's pack n' play to see if Bryce would sleep any better in that than the rented crib. He made it about 2 hours before he woke up and I couldn't get him back to sleep. I took him out and rocked him until he fell back asleep. Instead of putting him back in the bed, I did something I said I would NEVER do; I put him in the bed with us. Bryce got a great night sleep in my arms, but I didn't get any sleep since I'm not great at sleeping on my back.

He was ready to eat at 4:30 and then ready to be awake soon after. Yesterday morning I sat on the balcony with Bryce and we watched the sun rise. Today Jason and Bryce walked the beach BEFORE the sun came up. So any sleeping and napping patterns we had before vacation are definitely a thing of the past. I'm not feeling so great as a result of the lack of sleep I'm getting. Without going into too much detail, it has affected my efforts to get Bryce onto formula before I go back to school. I'm now forced to feed him which makes going out to the beach a bit harder. We didn't make it out there today and we only lasted at the pool for about an hour. Bryce did enjoy sitting on the balcony today.
Bryce is very observant and he enjoys watching the cars go by. He is great at following them with his eyes as they pass. Below is a video of the only entertainment from today.

beach day 2

Jason's fishing was our excitement for the day. Bryce has not proven himself to be a great traveler yet. We had a rough trip down on Saturday and a VERY rough night (to say the least) Saturday night. Sunday was a great day, but Sunday night was NOT great. Bryce just likes his own bed. We only lasted about 30 minutes at the beach this morning and not much longer at the pool this afternoon. FINALLY after a 3 hour nap, Bryce was ready to relax on the beach this evening.

Much happier once you get some food in him

beach day 1

We made our way out to the beach at about 8 this morning. We figured we better get an early start since Bryce is only good for about 2 hours before he needs a nap. We were able to go for a walk on the beach and at least touch the water.

Daddy and Bryce chillin' on the beach

We tested out the new float before we put it in water.

We went out to the pool after Bryce had a nap. He stayed in the water for an hour! He's a water baby.
