beach day 2

Jason's fishing was our excitement for the day. Bryce has not proven himself to be a great traveler yet. We had a rough trip down on Saturday and a VERY rough night (to say the least) Saturday night. Sunday was a great day, but Sunday night was NOT great. Bryce just likes his own bed. We only lasted about 30 minutes at the beach this morning and not much longer at the pool this afternoon. FINALLY after a 3 hour nap, Bryce was ready to relax on the beach this evening.

Much happier once you get some food in him

beach day 1

We made our way out to the beach at about 8 this morning. We figured we better get an early start since Bryce is only good for about 2 hours before he needs a nap. We were able to go for a walk on the beach and at least touch the water.

Daddy and Bryce chillin' on the beach

We tested out the new float before we put it in water.

We went out to the pool after Bryce had a nap. He stayed in the water for an hour! He's a water baby.

can I have some?

Bryce has gotten to the point where he wants everything that we have. He totally understands eating and he loves his cereal. I feel like I need to feed him every time we eat because he watches every move we make and opens his mouth when we move our forks to our mouth. He is starting to do the same thing when we are drinking. Tonight I was going to let him put his mouth on my straw and see what he did with it, but I was worried it would stab his gum and hurt him, so I just gave him the cup instead.

He knows how he is suppose to hold it

And he knows how to drink from it

He is very serious about the water! We're taking a poll.......what color are his eyes?!?

And you know it was good when it's dripping from your face (and when Daddy's pants are soaked). Pretty sure none of it actually made it into his mouth. ha!

fancy pants cameras are worth it

Our first and maybe last professional picture. ha!

My SIL (sister-in-law) and I took our boys to have their picture taken for a birthday gift for Jason's mom. It was definitely reassurance for having spent a lot of money on an SLR camera so we could take our own fancy photos from the comfort of our home. While our pictures don't have nice backgrounds, the photo sessions are much happier. Luckily after quite a bit of coaxing, we were able to get this picture of Bryce with a great big smile.............and cut off feet, ugh! The second I put Bryce down on the floor with Chase he broke out into screams of terror and wouldn't calm down. Of course Chase was a perfect angel. Maybe we will try our hand at professional photography once Bryce is a little older.

big boy

Our little boy is getting so big. I decided today that if Bryce is able to sit on his own, he would probably do well facing forward in the stroller. I think he really enjoyed seeing where he was going.

It was kind of sad not looking at him in his carrier, but I think he really enjoyed looking out at the world and not at me!

His little feet are crossed. Too cute!

We went over to Kelly and Dave's tonight for MeMaw's birthday. Bryce and Chase played some before everyone got there. Chase loves giving kisses......such sweet boys!

a room full of Charleses (that's Charles plural...ha!)

I'm going to go ahead and apologize that I don't have a picture to go with my title, but I wasn't thinking about my post title while I was taking pictures tonight. So let me explain. I kind of feel like this is a joke that you have to explain and then it isn't funny. I have to put in too much effort to explain myself, but it's worth it. ha! Our friends Russ and Jenny came over tonight and brought their son Charles "Charlie". Russ's first name is Charles, Jason's first name is Charles, and Bryce's middle name is Charles. We had 4 Charleses (is that really how you make that plural?!?) in one place tonight. Okay, so now that I got that cleared up, look at this cutie.
I think Charlie was singing his ABC's while Bryce spun the ABC wheel

Bet you can't guess who is older. ha! Charlie is 3 months and Bryce is 5 months, but I think they weigh about the same. Please excuse Bryce's chest hanging out. The buttons won't stay buttoned and it drives me CRAZY. You can see me trying to remedy the situation in the next picture.

I just love how Bryce is looking at Charlie. I think he wants to ask Charlie if he will come and play with him everyday!

We'll have to put Bryce in his Hokie attire the next time we get together. Something tells me Charlie will still be wearing orange and maroon the next time we see him!

we got a wii

It was only a matter of time..........

We were shopping at the Price Club (Costco for you new shoppers) with my parents the other night and we happened to run across the Wii and Wii Fit for a little bit cheaper than we have seen it in other stores. We had recently played with our friends Justin and Beth and have been debating on getting one of our own ever since. We turned it down and decided we would look online before we made our purchase.

We were not able to get one online in time to take it with us on vacation next week so my mom took us back out to the Price Club tonight and we purchased our very own Wii and Wii Fit. YAY!! We have already made a mii for everyone in the family. And Jason is very excited because his wii age is younger than his real age!!

blog makeover

I have spent so much time trying to find cute/free blog backgrounds. And even when I found something, it just wasn't the same without a custom header. Well, thanks to my friend Beth, the search is finally over! She gave me a blog makeover for my birthday. I had so much fun working with Amy at Designer Blogs. Didn't she do a great job on the header?!

because it's worth blogging about

Every year I look forward to going back-to-school shopping for new clothes. This year, not so much! Five and half months post-pregnancy and I'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy weight/size (I have 11 pounds to go). It just isn't fun buying clothes anymore. Well.......it wasn't fun buying clothes UNTIL I went shopping today! I decided to go to the Limited because I had some coupons. Turns out that today was the perfect day for shopping. Not only did I get to take advantage of the tax free weekend, but I got to take advantage of the teacher discount (15% off), the credit card (which I already had, didn't have to open a new one) discount (20% off), in store promotions, and don't forget the coupons ($150 worth)!! I got $545 worth of clothes for $200. I saved $345. Well, my mom saved $345. HA! Thanks, Mama! I tried to display all of my clothes to show what I came home with (2 dresses, 4 pairs of pants, 5 shirts).

Look who's starting to sit up

Our little man is growing up! It seems like everyday he does something new. Within the last week he has started sitting up without any support. He normally hunches over and eats his feet, but today he sat up rather straight and let me get some good pictures of him. They all look about the same, but he was just too dag on cute!

He just has the cutest facial expressions. I wonder what in the world he is thinking?
