first week of school

Bryce and Chase spent the last day of summer together on Labor Day.  They had fun playing putt putt.  The girls were at our house but I didn't snap any pictures of their fun.

We always start school the Tuesday after Labor Day.  Because of covid, our school district staggered start days since students new to buildings (K, 6th, 9th) weren't able to go to open house and orientation.  Bryce's first day was Tuesday because he was starting middle school.

He was so excited to start middle school.  Unfortunately there is only one kid from his elementary school in his class (and he doesn't know him) so it's going to be slow making friends with masks and social distanced desks.

He looks so grown!  The middle school students aren't switching classes this year because of covid so that eliminated his chance to have classes with more kids from his elementary school.

Masks are no fun, but the kids are doing great embracing it.

Thomas' mom and I were right behind each other in the pickup line the first day of school so she snapped a first day picture of these best friends.

Emmy had her first day on Wednesday.  It was also the first rainy first day of school we've ever had so we didn't get her traditional first day picture in front of the flag.

Emmy has lots of friends in her class.  Hopefully she'll have a chance to interact with them this year.

The middle school students are divided into teams.  This year they chose 90's snacks for their team names.  Bryce is on team Dunkaroos.  Chase found the snack treat at the gas station and was excited to give them to him.

Our afternoons are a series of school pick ups, extracurricular activities and dinner.  Bryce had two practices on Thursday and didn't have time for dinner before.  After I picked Emmy up from gymnastics we picked up dinner and took the leftovers to Bryce at practice.

Jason was off on Friday and it was essentially my last day off before going back to work after six months off.  We started our morning with a trip to Trader Joe's for all the fall things!

So basic, but so good!

Next we went to Cooper's Hawk for a wine tasting and lunch.

Bryce had a double header little league game on Saturday.

Bryce's friend Thomas joined us for church and lunch today.

Today after church we visited our good friends who breed labs.  The kids love it.  Emmy is so allergic, but she always wants to go back.

The kids are off of school for a teacher workday tomorrow, but it's my first day of work!  I usually don't work on workdays but I'm getting to start earlier this year and our team is meeting to get our groups scheduled for the year.
