"If You Like Pina Coladas....."
My new summer obsession! Pina Colada Frutista Freeze
I just love pina coladas. The 7-Eleven Slurpee is my favorite, but they NEVER have it. Lucky for me, Taco Bell has a new drink that definitely fills the void! I recommend ordering the drink without the pineapple. I love pineapple, but I prefer mine to be fresh. I think they just open a can of pineapple and pour the fruit and the juice in. The juice makes it way too sweet and takes away from the delicious pina colada flavor! If you get a chance to try one, tell me what you think.

Boys and their toys
I made the comment to Jason that I run out of places to put Bryce during the day. I feel like we go from the bouncy seat, to the bumbo, to the floor, to the swing, and then back to the bouncy seat in a matter of an hour. We have already pulled out the exersaucer to have another place to put him, but he is still a little small for it and can't sit up on his own yet. Last night Jason pulled out the Jump and Go (it's his favorite) that hangs from the doorway. I thought it would be about like the exersaucer, but he actually did better in it because the seat is so deep. Here is a little clip from last night.
Mama loves her sleep
For the past 2 months I have been telling people that Bryce is a great sleeper. He would eat, go to bed around 8:30, get up around 4 to eat again, and then go back to bed until around 8. I couldn't believe what a great night sleep I was getting with such a young baby. Well............I guess Bryce didn't want me to get too much of a good thing. I already told you that he wasn't a great sleeper last weekend at the beach. I was so excited to get home and get back to normal. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting to get back to normal. Bryce has woken up around 1 o'clock every night this week. I try putting the pacifier in his mouth so he will go back to sleep. That doesn't work. I pick him up out of the crib and rock him back to sleep. That worked a few times, but I have mostly found myself feeding him to calm him down. Then his daytime 3 hour (like clock work) eating schedule kicks in and he is up by 4 again to eat. And best of all, he is up by 6 and ready to start the day. (We have managed to get in a walk every morning while it is still cool outside.) I think we may have made a break through last night. Part of the problem with him waking up in the middle of the night is because he can roll now and he rolls himself onto his stomach. Until last night, he really wasn't sure what to do with his head when he was on his stomach. He always picks it up and looks around. Jason did night duty last night since he was going to be off today. When he went to calm him, he was on his stomach and was soaking wet from drooling. Jason changed him and flipped him to the dry end of the crib. I heard Jason get up a little later and when he came back to bed I told him I hadn't heard Bryce. He said he didn't either so he went and checked on him. Bryce was on his stomach the last time he left him and apparently he figured out how to lay his head down and SLEEP!!! So to make a long story short (HA), Bryce might start sleeping through the night again because he knows what to do when he rolls over. I really wanted to post a picture of him sleeping on his belly, but there is no way I am risking waking him to get a picture. This is the latest he has slept all week, hallelujah!.

OBX
Our first family vacation was pretty successful. We loaded up the car and left early Thursday morning. Bryce slept the whole way there! He did pretty well on the beach the first day, but had some crying spells followed by some napping (I think he was still getting over his shots). Thursday night was kind of rough. Bryce normally sleeps for a 7 hour stretch then wakes up to eat and then goes back to bed. However, NOT on vacation. He went to bed about 8:30 which is normal. He woke up at 12 which sometimes happens, but nothing a pacifier can't fix, except on vacation! I was so worried that his crying was going to wake up the other 15 people in the house so I knew feeding him would be the only way to quiet him quickly. He ate and went back to bed, no problem..........until he woke up again at 3. Again, feeding him would be the only way to quiet him quickly and not disturb the peace in the house. When he woke up AGAIN, 3 hours later, we gave up. We ran quickly out of the house with him and took him on a walk in order to let the rest of the house get some sleep. We almost packed up and went home Friday until everyone assured us they did not hear Bryce. We were glad we stayed because the next few days were much more peaceful and very relaxing.
Here he is in his cute little hat (which is impossible to keep on his head). I somehow managed to delete all the pictures of him in his sunglasses and his entire beach outfit before I downloaded them to the computer :( You will have you wait until the next beach vacation for sunglasses.Wednesday, June 24, 2009
4 months
Bryce will be 4 months old tomorrow. We went to the doctor today for his check up and shots. He weighs 13 pounds 13 ounces. We had guessed he would weigh 15 pounds going by the rate he gained weight at the other check ups. Boy were we wrong. He looks like he weighs more than 13 pounds, but I guess the scale doesn't lie (I sure do wish it would sometimes, ha!). The doctor said he is in the 90th percentile for weight, but I don't see how that is possible. He is 25 inches long, which puts him at about the 75th percentile for height. Bryce was a pretty good patient today. He screamed when he got the shots and it took him a while to calm down, but then he slept(in my arms) all afternoon and was as happy as he could be this evening. I just hope they don't affect him tomorrow once we leave for the beach. Sorry I don't have a picture to go along with this post, but getting us all ready for the beach has taken all of my energy. I will post some when we get home. See you in a few days!
